Humidifier motor issue

I HAVE A FLOOR MODEL EMERSONHUMIDIFIER FROM THE 90’S. THE CONTROL BOX EXPIRED. I WANT TO TRASH THE CONTROL BOX AND PUT IN A RHEOSTAT TO CONTROL THE SPEED OF THE TWO MOTORS.I DON’T KNOW HOW TO WIRE THIS IN. THE MOTORS EACH HAVE TWO COILS AND TWO WIRES TO EACH COIL. EACH MOTOR HAS A BLACK/BLUE WIRE TO ONE COIL AND RED/WHITS TO THE OTHER. THATS 4 WIRES FEED TWO COILS IN ONE MOTOR.

CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO WIRE THESE TO A SPEED CONTROL?

I don't have an answer that will directly help.
If no one has an answer, I suggest taking the old controller to Grainger. The guy at the desk can likely get you setup.
It is likely frequency-controlled AC motors but could be DC. Four wires suggest armucher and field wound motors.
Hence the control board.

Also, most Humidifiers have a moisture sensor in that control system.

A rheostat may not be applicable.
