Somehow you must cross paths with BigAl as he travels.

If you see his fiberglass bathtub/snowcat thingy stuck in a puddle be sure to stop off, laugh for a while, and take some photos for the rest of us :letitsnow:

Yep! Old Griz is just down the road a piece from my place .One of these days I am going to take the Montana Road from Elk City through the Selway Bitteroot to Darby Mt. Its 100 miles of beautiful scenery. It's too much road for old Bogus Bob so you better just stay home with the women folk .:blahblah: :blahblah: :blahblah: :yum:

Hey Griz??? Since you groom snow mobile trails ,what is the story about snowcats using them ? Would the state get after me ???

I believe, maybe, I think, (thinking is for people that don’t know). There may be a problem with the recreational stickers that go on the snowmobile and ATV. Those stickers help pay for the BR 180 groomers & the groomers wages that groom the snowmobile trails. I tried to put one on my Imps but they told my at the DMV that I couldn’t, it was considered a slow moving vehicle, like a tractor.
But as I said I don’t know.
I will how ever ask Sat. morning when I am finished grooming & get back to you

griz, any help you can give would be great. This is a topic that comes up on a regular basis here on the ForumsForums. Each state is going to be different, but it is obvious that 'personal snowcats' sort of fall into the legal cracks and are often not considered snowmobiles. In some of the eastern states (I think Pennsylvania and maybe New Hampshire) there are width limits on how wide a vehicle is allowed to be to use a groomed trail.

In my state we don't have groomed trails so I simply travel on farm fields and occasionally on the roads (I claim my Snow Trac as an agricultural vehicle and use an agricultural "SMV" sign on the rear just like I do on a tractor when I drive it on the road). Then again, I am the only person in the area to have a personally owned snowcat so it is a curiosity to people and the police just chuckle.

Member TEEOSTER in Michigan reported that he needs a sticker on his and he and I may meet up this winter. He said it is easy to get the sticker there, but I don't recall the cost.
