Greatest NFL Linebacker of all Time

My vote goes to Dick Butkus. I was only in the third grade when he quit playing, but I still love the old video clips of Butkus crushing ball runners and blockers. I played middle linebacker, and Butkus was one of my great inspirations. I don't know if Butkus invented this, but we were taught in tackling to "Hit-Lock-Lift and Drive", and that is exactly what Butkus did. He didn't just tackle, he drove the ball carrier into the turf.

So, guys, post video of your favorite NFL linebacker, past or present, then we can take a poll and vote on them.

This clip is about 6.5 minutes, and between minutes 2-4 are some viscious tackles and an interception where he breaks three tackles before being pushed out of bounds. Beautiful!

Enjoy!

Good choice CB!
Let's not forget Jack Lambert...:brows:

I got on this thread to vote for Butkus, but CB already got that one. Mike Singletary is pretty great too.

My dad went to high school with Dick B. and he wasnt the sharpest knife in the drawer from what he tells me.

Maybe not. But where's Butkus today? Where's you're dad today?

You'd be much better off if Butkus was your daddy.

Even though that is probably true, why bring it up? Im just typing down what my dad said. It has no relavence to my upbringing.

It's all arguable . So, I'd just like to add LT #56 as the best in His time .

But, having said that, It's without question Jack Lambert as the finest of all time :)
Go Steelers !
