Dogs barking at night

We live in the country and down in the valley there is a dog that barks in the evening for about 30 minutes straight as we're trying to get to sleep. I have no idea which house it's coming from, so I don't know the people to approach them, and I'm not sure I would do that since I'm bashful. Sometimes I feel like just yelling out the window SHUT UP, but I don't do that.

Do you approach pet owners about their dogs that bark for about a half hour in the evenings?

We have coyotes that we hear far more than the dogs.

I suppose if I could pinpoint the dog I might be inclined to say sometime if it was a nuisance to me. But how do you even do that if it is coming 'down in the valley' and you don't know from which which home?

Us too. We have the main rail line headed west from the city that passes through our little village. We're about a 15 minute drive to the city. Every time a train passes I can hear the coyotes howling. We've got a bit of am ongoing issue with our neighbors black lab. Big ole friendly goofball but he's always over in our yard wandering around and of course, our three small dogs see him and go ape $h-t crazy. We get along well with the neighbors and want to keep it that way but get frustrated when "remi" comes over. I try not to engage him and shoo him back through the trail over to his yard.

I had a neighbor when I lived in the city that worked nights and would leave there dog out with me having to get up at 4:30 am for work. I asked them nicely a couple times, one night it started in around 2 am and they just got home.
I lost my temper but the dog didn’t bark anymore.

Yapping mutts is a tough deal.
Feed it a gravy soaked sponge used to be my attitude in the past.

Then i got a dog and learned a bit about his and my behavior. Its the owners lack of training.

Now as i age. Im back to dispatching

It’s not the dogs fault, barking and guarding the yard is what they do, it’s the irresponsible and rude dip shits that own them that need the re education, even if it involves some hands on.
