Damn cold today!

Gone But Not Forgotten
We got down to 34 last night but the wind chill was low 20's. Right now we are only up to 38 and the wind chill is running about 25. I loaded wood in the boiler and came back for a warmer coat. Tonight they have a severe freeze warning posted with lows around 20. That will finish off the plants and flowers and may even stunt the alfalfa and clover. I turned the basement heat on since it was chilly when I brought the pool stuff inside yesterday. We had a little sleet around 10 this morning but areas around the finger lakes got a good snow squall this morning.

Jeez.

It's kinda cloudy here today but still supposed to get into the 80's. I sprayed the yard for bugs yesterday and I'll probably be mowing this weekend, both the yard and the pasture.

Wimp... :flowers:

Wimp?? You would be shivering your butt off in these temps. Around here it just means a change in wardrobe. Like swap my well worn "ventilated" jeans for some that are complete and get out a lined jacket. That single sweatshirt over a T shirt don't cut it in a cold wind. Going to turn around by Sunday evening with lows in the upper 40's. No wonder everybody has a cold.:hammer: The roller coaster has left the station.:yum:

Forecast is 20's tonight here as well. That frost wiped out the garden earlier in the week. No I have to pull all the stakes, wire, hose... out of the garden (without stepping on the pumpkins)

Wife was out gathering herbs(weeds) before they turn brown today. A lot of stuff is already dead and can't be used. She has both dehydrators running 24/7 right now. Time to pull the crazy marigolds out of the raised boxes so we can put the covers on top.

As Brian said ,Mid 20's tonight . Gotta be honest , it's going to feel good ! Not a cloud in the sky right now , the air is crisp ! I love it . Let it snow !

We are down to 29 already so it will be frosty by morning. House is comfy with just half the basement heat on. Greenhouses will take some heat tonight. At least the wind died down.

Got down to 19 with one hard frost on everything. Watching the leaves come off the hickory trees now. When they are bare the woods will really be naked. Supposed to hit 68 on Sunday. Crazy weather.:hammer:

Mid 70's here today and I'm sweating my ass off closing our pool! No furnace needed yet, but the pool water is a bit crisp at 71 degrees and not getting many takers.

Yeah, it's a shame. Getting into some chilly 85/65 weather for a few months, so time to fire up the pool heater and toss in some solar rings to help keep it a pleasing 82 or so. Let the 103 hot tub spill into it in the evening while getting sloshed on smooth rum. Yeah, I hate winter.

Like they say (or at least I do), heat is misery; cold is pain.
