Bowling

I enjoy bowling much more than golf. I don't have to chase the ball - it comes to me, and I don't have to wait until the "beer cart" finally comes around - the waitress is within hollering distance!

I've been bowling on least two leagues a week in the winter for about 20 years. One is a competitive league, the other I bowl on because my Dad bowls on it and even though we live next door to each other now I rarely see him - and at 75 years old I won't have that chance for many more years.

I'm far from a great bowler but I have fun. My current average is 185, though in the past I was over 200 for several years. Both my sons bowl in leagues and tournaments and they average 210-218.

Speaking of tournaments - I'm heading to Reno tonight to bowl in the Nationals. The tournament uses a handicap system so most bowlers are equal coming in. I've been bowing pretty good lately (6 out of the last 9 games were over 240) and am hoping with my handicap and a little (alot) of luck I will do well.

Any other bowlers out here in forum land?

I happened to shoot a PBA event late last year. Here are some shots from that day:

Sounds like fun Wannafish. The away bowling trips are always a party. Good luck in bringing your best game with you. :thumb:

Good pics GB!!!

Used to bowl regulalry as a teenager growing up, then some time later during college with my dad in his summer league. I still have his ball (which is the only one I bowled with) that he picked up in France in 1952 (we both have small fingers). Bowling was like golf to me, it's you against yourself. Gave it up some time ago when I moved around.

Come on GB, what about Earl Anthony or Dick Webber?

I like to bowl but my average is no where near 200. In fact my high game is about 190. But my average is slowly creeping up over 140, 2 of 3 games are usually around 160 now. I have been bowling for about 3 years now. I hated golf. My 13 year old son avreges about 145 or so.

Well...that was fun...and expensive. I bowled as well as I gambled - poorly. Very poorly. The time away from work and the farm were well needed so I guess it all evens out.
I'd like to say I'm glad to be home, but I sure miss the 70 degree weather out there. 33 when I hit Detroit last night. Burr.

Sounds like a good outing for you. :thumb:

I don't suppose you want to know it ....but it was probably at least 70 at your house a day or two while you were gone. Very nice weather. I like it when it teases us with nice weather in March. :D
