Does anyone have any information about this machine? The owner claims it is a JW8, but I can't find any info regarding such a model.

How wide is it ???
SWs and J5s have 3 wheels of equal size seen in profile and the front is sprung from the rear that is a walking beam. A muskeg would have 4 wheels in profile and double wheels in the track.

I thought I read about a guy that was going to lengthen his ( SW or J5 ) tracks. I'd be real interested to know what was done and if it worked !!

I don't really know, but the track looks like it has at least a 3 foot splice. and the back looks modified (lengthened) 2ft past the pusher fan. I think the back two wheels are on the original walker and the mid axle is fixed to the front axle. Just a guess for a 5 cent bet.

Should be dubbed the JW8 as suggested in the first post! Will check with an old friend to see if anything like this ever existed.

those back wheels look like Thiokol or pb I would guess it was a custom stretch job I don't know how much more flotation he is getting it does look cool.

dtyler1022 do you have any other pics of this machine? Like to see the back and the suspension setup.

Yea, Don, I thought the rear wheels looked like Thiokol, also. The front wheel isn't Bombardier, either.
Looks to me like they added to the back of the walking beam and slapped a couple wheels on. I'm really curious about the track… doesn't look like J5, not quite wide enough for SV252.

I don't have anymore pics right now. I'm trying to make arrangements to view the machine. It probably won't be until next week sometime.

could the suspension be off a model "B" series Bombardier as they had 4 wheels each side and only single width track???
