Band Perry just knocked it out of the park at the ACM's

SO grizz, did it take you back some 20 years?

Back in the 80's we were different then weren't we...Wasn't any Punk rockers around these parts though...Just on MTV

A throwback to the 1980's punk rockers.:wow::wow:
I can't imagine them doing punk rock. I did record the ACM, so I will get around to watching it sometime this week. I'll keep an eye out for the performance you are talking about.

What did the ACM awards have to do with "Country" music? :doh:

Hollywood gowns, Las Vegas, pop music and the finale with Stevie Wonder?

tough question. Lets see ....
rock is not rock anymore ...it is rap or rapified
country is not country anymore ....it is light rock

Does that help?

And that is why I listen to Country Music now days and not pop/rock/crap whatever you want to call it.:whistling: I guess there are some of the pop/rock type that I listen to, but not a ton. Some Maroon 5, Katy Perry, Gaga, but for the most part I listen to Country. One of the country stations around here just went to a format of 50s-90s country with most of it being in the 60s & 70s. I took them off my presets.

I watched the first 1:30 of the ACMA's. Opening was kewl. I see what you mean about The Band Perry, but I have to admit I liked it. Miranda Lambert rocked with Your Mother's Breakup (or something like that).
To be fair, after listening new country is not light rock, but it is the closest thing we have to rock and roll like it used to be, and like you jwstewar, I listen to more new country stations on the radio than anything else. I like Maroon5 and those you mentioned, but no station plays them or other bands like them enough for me to listen.

Sorry to the old time country fans, I know you all don't care for what happened to the music you knew and loved, much like us old rock and rollers who have been overrun with rap and other monstrosities like disco. The younger generations make the music so I suppose it will be ever changing no matter what music you tend to favor.

funny you should say that in basic you have to remember we were all dressed and groomed the same also there were no radios. so I buddied with what I thought was a fellow redneck from Oklahoma. we both shared the same mos, so we also went to the same ait at ft Belvoir va. while given an off post pass we were your typical young boys wanting to get laid we were down town dc when I suggested we put out some vibes on some young collage girls. my buddy suggested the girls across the street my eye sight was a tad better back then I couldn't see what he was talking about. I told him all I saw was a couple of things over there one had an orange Mohawk the other had half her head shaved the other half was died baby blue, he said those were what he was checking out that those were his type of girls. at this I replied I was pretty young but I didn't remember any one looking like that when I left Oklahoma.

My 20 yr throwback happened earlier yesterday - watching tv saw a grad school classmate on a news program giving away entrepreneurial challenge money. He missing a little hair but the attitude & tweedy sport coat is the same. Biggest change is he is giving away other peoples money instead of keeping it. :biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

My first impression of the brothers/sister Band Perry is they run the risk of being shunned by Nashville insiders similar to Shania Twain's bubble gum rock. She beat them into submission after awhile. I don't pay close attention usually but this band has a song on the radio where she blows into the mic (a boo boo) and the sound engineer kept it in the final cut.

Other thing I noticed was Taylor Swift was practicing all growed up girly wiggles. Big change from the snot nosed kid who sang her whole mid-afternoon set off-key at WeFest a few years ago.

Do agree the whole show was bustin out :yum::yum: all over... George Strait sounded rough.
