Anyone any information on an Aktiv skidoo grizzly

A friend of mine has just bought this machine, which is at present sharing a stable with my snowtrac. We have little or no information on this beast except that it was used by the Royal Marines. It is in the process of being repainted white - it was green and white and looked odd. Has anyone any information at all on these machines, please, wiring diagrams or anything?

Contact Twin Pines Equipment in Minnesota and see if they might have any parts lying around or even manuals. They use to distribute the Aktiv Snowmobiles in the U.S..

I gave a whole bunch of Aktiv/grizzly brochures to Warren of Snow Trac. The Dealer in Alaska, Bill Yadolski (deceased) had a bunch of New parts for these. His widow most likely sold them to Jerry Mentzel, formerly of North Pole Alaska now residing in Ohio somewhere, and from there they probably went to Warren. The Patents were picked up by Bombardier who continued producing a version of the machine. I don't know about parts interchangability. The National Forest Service liked these machines and many were produced. Spring is finally here on the "Slope" and we are into 24 hour day's. There are still 10 foot snow piles, but the ground is thawing and it's just above freezing. We have in the millions of ducks and geese. Good luck with your Grizzly, they are real "trucks" and pull a trailer better than most of all the other makes of snowmobiles.
 
I am only really after a wiring diagram and an ignition switch, unfortunately these are not obtainable here in England. My Grizzly is an Ex Royal Marines "Truck" which they no longer use or I could go to them It is going to be a show machine as I said we dont use them here "not enough snow" Trouble is I am trying to get it ready at short notice for a show in a few weeks and am struggling !!!!!!!!!!! to get it started. Thanks for your info I am amazed at the amount of folks that use this site since I was Introduced to it, and how supportive everyone is. Thanks again Lyndon keep it steady
 
I am sure you can find an ignition system for your Aktiv engine. Not sure which one your has. Rotex engines were used I believe. Find out who made your engine and contact them. Tell them you story and which engine it is. They may beable to provide you with a whole ignition system?
 
On Bill Guthrie's website which mike posted the linc to a few frames back there are pictures side by side of the Aktiv and the later Bombardier Grizzly. you can really see the similarities. Bill probably has the literature.
 
To all who have been replying with any info they thought might be of help GOOD NEWS a local locksmith here has been able to make me new keys for the ignition swith and now it works roll on friday when I can fit it and see if it fires up I will let all know thw result when it happens Thanks again to all for your help, much appreciated
 
Oh dear still won't start its as dead as a doornail I've not heard anything from anyone I've tried for a wiring diagram, all I can find is that the same engines are used in Microlites but they aint Sno Tracs so the wiring is different Back to square one

The only world Gurus to be found on Aktiv Snowmobiles are in Sweden, not the States.

There is a small company in Sweden that bought all of the parts/spares from Aktiv when they ceased production of snowmobiles, (1989 I think)

Hello,
I own an old Grizzly Aktiv which I use for grooming xc ski trails. The engine is a Polaris Indy 440, I beleive. Perhaps that is where the ignition system comes from. The double tracks and suspension are from Artic Cat long track machines. Both in mid to late 80's vintage. You likely are out of luck on the transmission; have no idea of where that came from, should you need to repair or replace that. I'd be curious of any other resources you come across regarding these sleds, or Skidoo Alpine II sleds, especially the transmissions or internal working gears.

The machine in question went to the War and Peace show at Beltring and its owner sold it there, I think to a Dutchman. They did get it running after a fashion. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
 
I have wiring diagrams for an 86 grizzly. Will these help you? I need to know the measurements for the clutch alignment. Pm me with your e-mail and I will send them over.
