1956 222 Kitten Restoration

Having the older pontoons without adjusters, how are you going to remove the 'wear slack' in the tracks?

The wear is occurring on the link pin and the grouser holes at the same rate. And, they have been mating to the others surface for 68 years. So, straightening them back out and putting them back together will create new wear 'hotspots' as the parts synchronize with each other. And they will still have to be adjusted so that the pin rollers are at 3.5" to seat correctly in the sprocket valleys.

At least that is how I assessed mine.

My 58 has this issue as well. Sprocket and pin rollers have additional wear that create skipping where the links can ride on the sprocket web.

Adding the extra sprocket teeth to catch every grouser pin roller and material on the nose or adjusters would help.

One would think the roller wear and rail wear would set the pin rollers deeper in the sprocket but not the case. Pushing on just one side of the grouser sends it through at a weird looser angle:(

Early design flaws. I just drive in and out of my garage in a straight line and run it. 100 feet in and out on occasion is all the kitten fun I need:)
