Military veterans how many of you have ptsd from your military service days? Also how do you deal with ptsd?

It started with Agent Orange. I didn't know anything about it until about 15 years ago when it was pointed out to my by other Vietnam Veterans. They encouraged me to apply for a good disability, which I qualified for. The money helps me a lot in my retirement years.
Psychologists never told me anything about the disability money and how to deal with the PTSD.

Sorry to hear about you having ptsd. Yes military is stressful job trying to defend your country from outside forces that want to destroy the country. PTSD is a real and serious condition.
Yeah, and coming back home people would call us 'baby killers', while genuflecting to the government that ordered us over there.

yup. only took 17 years for me to get disability.
I can't help but wonder if the VA had helped me with counseling when I first got out and asked for it, how different of a person I would be today.
But, they denied my claim, I spent 17 years not even knowing what PTSD was, or that I had it, and now the VA pays me every month.

Did you get back pay for the 17 years?
It's pathetic that illegal aliens (CRIMINALS) come here and they are very generous. They qualify them immediately, those of us who protected our country get jerked around.

of course not. in fact, I received some separation pay when I was discharged and they took that back.
Have you thought about contacting a lawyer?

no. as far as i know, i would have had to get a lawyer back in '96 when i was first denied bennies.
i found out years later that the VA I was working with had a reputation for screwing Veterans. (brecksville, ohio)

Sorry to hear that. PTSD and mental illness should automatically qualify for disability benefits like Down syndrome and paraplegic wheelchair users automatically qualify for disability benefits. PTSD and mental illness is real but not lot of older generation people belive that.

Countries don’t care about people serving in the army. They just use people and chew them out.
Keep in mind that if you feel like your PTSD, anxiety and/or depression are getting worse, you can file a claim and possibly get a higher rating. I haven't used this law firm but others have told me they are good:

Attorneys have more power so it's harder for the VA to bully them.

Sorry to hear that. Yeah I never joined the army and I couldn’t because I have conditions that would disqualify for me joining the army like autism, dysthymia and anxiety. So I can relate to you.
