LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (AP) - Al Gore's son was arrested early Wednesday on suspicion of possessing marijuana and prescription drugs after deputies pulled him over for speeding, authorities said.

Al Gore III, 24, was driving a blue Toyota Prius about 100 mph on the San Diego Freeway when he was pulled over at about 2:15 a.m., Sheriff's Department spokesman Jim Amormino said.
The deputies said they smelled marijuana and searched the car, Amormino said. They found less than an ounce of marijuana along with Xanax, Valium, Vicodin and Adderall, which is used for attention deficit disorder, he said.
"He does not have a prescription for any of those drugs," Amormino said.
Gore was being held in the men's central jail in Santa Ana on $20,000 bail.
Kalee Kreider, a spokeswoman for his parents, did not immediately return phone messages to The Associated Press on Wednesday.
The son of the former vice president and Democratic presidential nominee also was pulled over and arrested for pot possession in December 2003, in Bethesda, Md., while he was a student at Harvard University.
He completed substance abuse counseling as part of a pretrial diversion program to settle those charges.
The youngest of Al and Tipper Gore's four children and their only son, Gore lives in Los Angeles and is an associate publisher of GOOD, a magazine about philanthropy aimed at young people.

Hmmm . . . I bet Al is going to be mad about him driving his prius so fast. That has to be bad for the environment!

WHAT! YOU MEAN THEY STILL DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAYS? How dare they! BUT I guess his dad will just pay to have some more "TREES" planted to make up for this horrible attrocity to our planet commited by his son. Makes me wonder though. What kind of Trees are they really planting? HHMMMmmm You dont think they could be planting some of them Marijuana plants do you? Wonder why I havent seen any of this on the new channels?

Today on the MSN home page the Gore family hits it twice. Al is in the spotlight for answering questions on the climate and down a bit it talks about his son.

I am not a Gore fan but remember there has been others with kids in trouble too.

But I do have a question, with all of them drugs he had which typically slow a person down, what the heck was he doing driving 100 mph?

murph

I'm also not an Al Gore fan, but his son is 24 years old -- Al doesn't have any influence on what his son does. Now, if his son was under 18, then this story would have a bit more meat.

Personally, I found it funny as shit. It's ironic that Al Gore is running around telling the world how to live and this is just another example of what a facade of B.S. he is.

Goes to show no matter what political party youre with, families have problems. This does say something big about Gores parenting. Maybe he should spend more time as a father than as a environmental pundit.

I dont find it funny though. THe kid has some serious problems. He could have killed people.

The man is 24 years old -- what exactly does "spending more time as a father" supposed to mean?

And at "24" he is hardly "a kid". You stop being a "kid" when you graduate high school.

That's the same line of B.S. anti-war people use when they refer to dead soldiers as "someone's child". It's an attempt (be it conscious or not) to imply innoncence and naivity upon a person that old enough to be fully responsible for his actions.

Since this man is 24, he was in his early teen years during Gore's Vice Presidency. I wonder how much time Al spent with him then or if he was farmed off to a private school.

Oh well, in ten years Al Gore Jr. will probably be a Senator like his Daddy and his Grand Daddy. This little offence will just be a side-joke on the campaign trail. Heck in ten years it may actually help him get elected.

:yum: The same time millions of other kids get from their oldman, the way of life in modern society particularly if you are in business or public life. Why do you mention it in this thread.:pat:
