My septic pump died a couple days ago.
Got the tank(s) drained and could see the pump in there. Easy removal. Unplug it, release one hose clamp on a Fernco and the pump lifts right out via the attached rope.
Unfortunately, I have a bum arm and couldn't do the project with only my good arm so I called a plumber.
He had the old pump out, new one plumbed in and fully installed in under an hour and a half.
The plumber brought his sidekick who basically did nothing.
Total labor/plumper costs:
$50 to drive 15 minutes to my place.
$600 for 1.5 hours worth of work.
WTF?!?!?
My dad had a leaking kitchen faucet. The hose that allows you to pull the head out so you can direct water spray wherever had a hole in it.
The charge to install the new faucet (which was already bought) was $290 for a 30-minute project. Again WTF?!?!?
