Responses in order: don , The donor vehicle was a 89 ford ranger. appreciate the offer for wiring, but the guy I bought the motor from is a 2.3 ford nut and has all of that. When the motor finally goes in for the last time, He is going to be the guy that wires it up. The engine orerating system will have it's own harness, and all of the accessories will run off of a seperate buss bar.
Peter: The donor motor started out with 110 hp. It has just over 100,000 miles on it with no rebuild, so we figure it has 80-90 hp at this point. Compression was even all the way across, so we decided to run it as is(it couldn't handle 110 hp anyway.) I also almost went with a 2.0 jetta motor, but couldn't find a readily available adapter plate. knowing now how simple they are, a decent machine shop should be able to make whatever You need. As far as the electical goes, I didn't have any trouble finding a local freelance mechanic to modify the harness for a few $$$.
