Spryte cab extension

Thinking of extending my 1201A cab to match a 1202. Doesn’t seem like it’d be too tricky. Anyone done this? Tired of shoveling the bed and could use a couple more seats.

Would anyone with a 1202 cab care to post some detailed pics or dimensions?

bcgofo,

While you're thinking about cab modifications, you might think about modifying the front doors to the later standard. The early doors are almost half doors, vertically speaking, and one doesn't so much "get in" as "climb in". It's not a very user friendly design, and after many years DMC/LMC finally figured it out and changed the shape of the doors substantially - which greatly improved ingress and egress. Yes, this would be "project creep", but I think it's a worthwhile upgrade.

Anyway, maybe some food for thought. Good Luck!

I agree with BFT, with the caveat of adding the bottom half of the rear bulk head, with out it the front corners can droop. the later big doors have this beefier bulk head.

sweet looking crew cab!

Right on, thanks for the advice. The front doors are on the list but gonna have to wait for the next round.

Had a productive day. Will have a few more days next week to get more done

Thanks! Started with a cheap drill rivet tool attachment but quickly destroyed that and upgraded to pneumatic one. Using 3/16 wide flange pop rivets. I couldn’t imagine what my hands would feel like doing it manually. Right around 225 rivets at this point.

Doors mocked up. Now prep/paint…..

Your choice of orange looks close to Omaha Orange, Chrysler colour of old days. I have been looking for this colour in spray cans and no luck.
Tucker used this colour for decades.
The local parts store will make up spray cans, but is expensive. I didn’t want to get into spray guns and cleaning guns.
