NEW TIRES BKT

Thanks to the informations from nwerring from Oslo, about the type of the tires that they usually use in Norway, today i receive my new tires for my ST4.
BKT 8181 4,50 X 16 4 Ply.

I am almost finished the project N2 "No more oil Leaks" ( i have too many fotos from this interesting restoration - i have learned too much about this procedure )
and the next weeks i will try to start the project N3 "Replace the big wheels". But first of all i must try to built a new home made Track Jack for this case.

Then i need extra information from nwerring about how to cut the ribs from the tires.:yum::yum:

By the way the project N1, (last summer), was about the insulation inside the cabin. It cost me too many hours and a lot of pain.

I dont know what is next, but if there is no snow........

you don't need track jacks, stuff a block under the front tire to support the track loosen the adjuster remove bolts in the overlap sections and separate track. to put it together you disable the ignition, release the varriator belt, drape the track over the sprocket, and put trans in low gear, have your assistant crank the engine until the track is tight on top than bolt sections together.

How it looks

By the way THANKS DON:smile:

Those look good. Are they foam filled? Do you think you need to take the side lugs off or just run it as-is? I'm going to need two tires for not season. Wonder if these are available in the States?

About the side lugs. Thats why WE need extra information from nwerring.
In the last foto someone ( i dont know where - perhaps in the north countries in Europe Norway - Finland - Sweden or Iceland) run these tires as it is.

How it looks in 2 band rubber track with this type of grousers.

It seems that it works (the tire) as it is.

I dont know yet, how it works with the side lugs, in the 3 band track
with the different type of grousers, but i will find out the answer during the summer test in the green fields.

Many wishes to HAPPY EASTER

Hey Villi from Iceland
How are you?

If i understood what you mean, you use a bigger pair BKT 5,5x16 - 6 PLY for the front sides, and a smaller pair BKT 4,5 X 16 4 Ply for the rear sides.

Anyway how is the performance of these tires on the snow with the extermal side lugs in 3 rubber band, with this type of guides (not grousers ok).
What is your opinion?

Thanks for the answer

Some people cut them down with an angle grinder. I ended up not useing my tractor tires. I bought the Bombardier tires instead. The tractor tires work ok though.
