Do you think the LamTrac has a heavy duty enough under-carriage for mulching? Is the 8400 a special version with heavier armor?
 
The 8400 is a purpose built machine designed to take that kind of abuse. They also sell smaller versions. It's got a 400hp deisel while the one I operate has a 174hp cummins.
 
Cool! I love mulchers for some reason. I think that might be my retirement business. Something that lets me write off cool equipment and get paid to tear up brush! ;)
 
we bought a sneller mulching head for our 225 jd excavator.it doesn't use the hydraulics from the hoe,it has it's own cummins power unit in the head.being on an excavator you just walk and swing.saves all the turning that is required with the lamtrac.in soft ground it doesn't tear it up as bad.i cleared over 600 acres of trees this winter with it
