Imps are sorely lacking - in my opinion- when it comes to the ease of track tension adjustment. From what I can tell, it can't be done without first uncoupling the track and then unbolting the assembly where the front idler wheel mounts to the frame with a couple/three adjustments possible by removing bolts and repositioning the assembly.....followed by re-coupling the tracks only to find out they need further adjustment; rinse and repeat....ugh.
Seems that Sprytes, maybe Super Imps, later DMC's use either a worm screw type adjuster or a piston where you pump grease in (from my research, bear with me I'm new at this snowcat addiction). I rebuilt and replaced my tracks last fall and left the adjuster where it was at the halfway point. They seem ok but I wonder if maybe a notch tighter would be in order but DO NOT RELISH splitting the tracks!
So the question: has anyone modified or updated their Imp tensioners to something more infinitely adjustable and user friendly?
