Hi There,

I have just added a fourth snow trac to my collection of a '63 snow trac a '68 Trac Master and an '87 McLarty built machine.

See http://www.forumsforums.com/3_9/showthread.php?t=10143

I am collecting it next weekend.

If anyone has a military machine for sale to complete the colection I would be very interested!!

I will add photos ASAP.

I'm not sure if it's my perception, but it seems like most of the Snow Tracs that stayed around Europe are in better shape than their American-imported counterparts. We must use these machines more when we own them. Maybe the vast amount of land and free running snowcat space in this country is accompanied with more rapid machine deterioration?

I hope you're happy with the purchase, I hope to see photo's of our Trac in some good snow soon! :P

Andeh, Very happy with my purchase thanks! Safely back home.

I do think you guys in the States have it good, you do have far more espace than us in Europe, where control is tight on where such vehicles can be used.

I also think that if snow tracs are kept indoors when not in use they do a lot better, too much steel used in the roofs instead of alloy.

We do have better snow though apparently...!

here are a couple of examples of exterior stored Uk snow tracs...

Is my last purchase a Swedish or Scottish production?

I think my latest Snow Trac might be Swedish, even though it has a chassis number 2 places after the end of production in Sweden:

Chassis number and year of manufacture for Snow-Trac ST4 and Trac-Master/Snow-Master ST4B

Chassis Numbers Model Year Units in Series Model
2266-2315 1980 50 Snow-Trac ST4

The reason I think it might be Swedish is twofold;

Firstly it has the plates on the back saying built by Activ but supplied by McLarty

Secondly the build quality is much better than my 1987 Mclarty machine.

What do you think?

Ps notice McLarty 's plate says he is the Snow Trac and Snow Tric supplier, the Snow Tric was the Activ snowmobile or skidoo to you!

Any chance it was an end of the line model built by Aktiv but purchased by Maclarty and then finished off by him? That would explain the Aktiv build plate.

good point andeh, it would make sense that when Activ ceased production in Sweden that McLarty took some part finished units from their production line.
