I HATE this tree... but it'll give me a years worth of wood.

My son pointed out a downed tree. He loves running chainsaws (until this tree).

It's on a very steep hill. At the trunk, it's a 28" oak. Yea, I want this wood. Enough to heat the house for a year.

I let him have at it. Bound up a chainsaw. Send in a 2nd saw. Bound that up too. He quit for the day (after I had him pull the power heads off the saws - the bars/chains can stay in the tree but not the saw itself).

I go up this morning and beat up the tree (and myself). There's the stump but then from the stump to the ground is over 8' in the air for around 50'. Can't reach anything. Yea, I bound up the saws again. :( Third chainsaw was the charm.

Here's the stump that we've been dealing with. It's cut completely through but I couldn't nudge the tree off that damn thing. 3rd saw at the far end busted it free.Resized_20251014_124712.jpegResized_20251014_124704.jpeg

I was thinking more along the lines of the how many people does it take to screw in s lightbulb kind of joke. Like how many chainsaws does it take to cut down a tree? But I don't have a punchline. Apparently it takes 3.

Yea, 3 is the magic number. ;)
Ordered another saw yesterday. :) That'll give me 2 large saws for bucking and 2 smaller ones for pruning. These are all Husky pro saws. I have a whole pile of "homeowners" saws but I hate using those as they have no oomph.
