1964 Bombi sw48, starting problem

Greetings, recently acquired "64" Bombi sw48 and have a quirky problem. After starting and stopping motor, Ford straight 6, Attempting to restart, nothing happens (no solenoid click, nothing) when key "on" and starter button "pushed". Does anyone know if these machines had a "time out" or "delay" on re-start or am I just dealing with bad contacts, etc? Thanks.

One cause is poor voltage to the solenoid from the starter switch. When the solenoid gets hot it takes more current to cause it to pull in. I had a bad key switch on a f stupor duty that wasn't giving full voltage to the start solenoid. My solution: New key switch = expensive So I put a cheap 30 amp relay in the engine compartment that the key switch had no issue pulling in. heavy (12 ga) wire from batt to relay, relay to solenoid no more issues. much cheaper than new key switch.
