235 years after the ratification of the Constitution and implementation of the EC, we still have disproportional sizes, in both geographically and population. The Electoral college modifies those factors to give the various states a more fair representation. Most likely this will always be so. Therefore, the conclusion should be that, the Electoral college is not obsolete.
