Not a thing wrong with either one of those. I have a Marlin 336 30-30 and another in 35 Remington. For 357 a S&W model 28 along with a Marlin 1894.
My avator is a 1943 Remington Rand 1911 I’ve had since I was in high school.
My EBR was a Ruger 77 270 stainless in a black synthetic stock. Traded it for a Colt Combat Commander 1911 a few years ago
Nothing wrong with either of those; our defensive 'arsenal' for years was a Marlin 1894 in .44 Mag with a matching Ruger wheel gun. We traded around to end up with the current collection, which actually includes an AR-15, an AR-7, a 12 gauge shotgun, two 20 gauge (single shot and pump), a Hi-Point carbine in .40, Sig 250 9/40, and a Kimber 9mm, which is my current EDC. Dragonfly Lady has her own, of course!
Oh, and ammo for all the above ... but we need more of that. Doesn't everyone?
Edit: I have to admit missing the lever gun a lot, if for no other reason than sentiment: my first gun, a legacy from my father, was a Marlin 39A. Dragonfly Lady doesn't know it (yet), but there is a Henry lever on my Someday List.
He had plenty of scandals. He just wasn’t embarrassed by them.
Plus the Attorney General and Congress were all covering for him.
