BigAl mentioned in this thread that he's working to get some children into school. DaveNay, B_Skurka, Doc and myself would like to assist in this initiative.

For every member that joins in April 2006, each of us will donate $1 towards this initiative. We will also donate another $1 for each 10 posts that any new member makes during the month. (So starting with the 4 of us, that's $4 being donated for each new member).

Also, each of us will donate $.50 for every existing member that posts to the poll above.

So, invite people to join the forum and we'll donate to help these kids get an education.

If any member would also like to make such a pledge, please post it in this thread.

The fine print.
1. Regardless of the turnout to this thread, each of us will donate no less than $82 (the price for one school year for a child).
2. Due to other donations, each of need to set a limit of $246 (the price for one school year for 3 children).
3. For the "post count" bonus, the posts need to be at least "quasi-meaningful". Posts for the sake of just incrementing the post count won't be counted.
4. I will need to confirm that each new member is unique. No duplicates based on either IP address or e-mail address. (duplicate ID's is also breaking an existing forum rule so please don't do it...).




EDIT by B_Skurka: Since DaveNay decided to join in with a matchin donation, I edited his name into the list, and changed the math to include his contribution.

We're off to a good start. We have 3 new members so far this month.

Last month we had a total of 45 new users. With our contest going on we're hoping you all will help us give away our money for an extremely worthwhile cause. If everyone who reads this will refer at least one member I have no doubt we can get 200 new users this month. With a that many new members if just 50 of them will post 10 messages we will maximize the donations.
It won't be easy and it's going to take everyone pulling the load; but if we work toghether we can make this the biggest month yet for ForumsForums and help some needy kids while we're at it. So all that's left now is to get er done! Please, get behind the cause and help us out.

I hadn't previously voted but I did just vote for you.

I too only get one vote... What is it with these polls? It doesn't act like an election.:rolleyes:

We do have 20 new members (April) so far so that's good.

OK, April has passed.

So, here's what we have.

34 new members in April = $34
5 new (April) members with # of posts > 10. = $10.
26 members posted to the poll above = $13.

$34+10+13 = $57

According to #1 in the fine print, we're each going to donate $82 minimum.

So, it appears combined, we're going to donate $328.

Virginia Vasquas , my secretary, is still lining up kids to help out and is getting names and pictures . As soon as I have them ,I will pass them on to the donators so they can personally get to know the child they sponsor.
