My IP address is already spread across the world and is meaningless, like assigning a number to individual grains of sand. :rolleyes:
... Oh, and good luck figuring it out because every 'Smart device' connected to my WiFi has one... and the router, has one too. :ROFLMAO:
 
@Doc I thought Ip addresses were in the 192-168 XXX or 10-10XXXX series inside your house after the router????

I went to that site first page was OK clicked learn > network basics > a popup said my computer was comprised that windows needs to be fixed???? I'm running UBUNTU 24.4 so how can my Microsoft be compromised????

I could just close the browser window.
I don't know about you windoze users but I'd use control alt delete to get to task manager and close browser down.

Sounds like they were trying to sell you something.
My "free" anti-virus software does the same. Tells me I have a ton of issues and for only $x.xx per month subscription, they'll take care of it. I just close the window. It's all marketing.

This forum uses that site to check IP's of members. The mods/admin use it as a tool to check for overseas IP's that are trying to join here for napharious reasons.
 
IP’s are usually assigned by your ISP in a random fashion when you connect. For instance, when I go to the Lowes or TSC websites they read my ISP, IP address. My ISP is located 2 counties away so retail websites always think I’m in the Tennessee valley near Muscle Shoals. I’m about 2hrs from Muscle Shoals. At the top of the page they show "my store" they think is close to where I'm physically located, usually they think I'm in Huntsville AL.

For several years I used a satellite internet service provider. They connected me through the server most convenient for them which could be anywhere in the US. Retail websites have believed I was in Idaho, Vermont and most often in North Carolina.

These days I sometimes use a VPN that’s located in Europe. They usually connect me through US public trunk lines so websites think I’m somewhere in the US. Sometimes they route me through Holland which causes US based websites to freak out. I get all kinds of security questions. I can select to use servers in more than 100 countries. Sometimes (if I’m bored) I route my access though random counties just to see how US based servers respond. :ROFLMAO:

Also, I use Linux software. I get those retarded “your Windows software needs … xxx xxx” messages on websites. I think those are just advertisements that are sometimes hosted by various retail websites. 98% of computer users, use windows. They aren’t really reading the software you use. They just display the ads assuming you use windows.
