What are you doing today, II

Utility is not even estimating when we will get power restored. I know some people in my shooting group have estimated times into tomorrow.

But they have me listed under ESTIMATED RESTORATION as "unavailable" so I am guessing potentially 36-48 hours. Longest we have ever been on generator is 8 days, and that was in frigid weather. We have 60(F) degree days so this is pretty much a cake walk, but it is just inconvenient because the shop doesn't have power.

Gave my s-i-l our camping lanterns so she has some light, moved her food into our fridges and freezers.

Loaned my spare generator to a neighbor down the road so he can power his refrigerator and freezer. It's a little 3500watt Generac portable construction generator, super quiet too. Nice to have a back up to the back up, like wearing a belt with suspenders. But it helps the only real friend I have in the neighborhood*, so it's a good thing. He actually has a generator but it is buried behind project cars and junk and hasn't been started in, according to him, 15 years. His wife doesn't know that its my generator powering their house, she thinks he worked hard and got his fired up :bb:

* what we refer to as our neighborhood is a dead end road with a spur road. All surrounded by real farms, so sort of an aberration. But because of river and some hills, it is mostly unsuitable for farming. 30 homes scattered over 150+ acres. I can't see any of them from our house due to trees and hills. We are pretty much the "lowest" priority for the utility company.

I went to Ortho DR between runs Ii have mild arthritis in my shoulder (" nothing that requires replacement yet he said) along with bursitis he gave me a cortisone shot from the back in to the joint. I know why they do it from the back that sucker was about 6" long and i think he had the whole thing in there he said it would take a day or 2 to kick in.
Off to daughters house after work fished fan light 3 completed light 4 done, one light and one bathroom vent to go I couldn't get exhaust fan out to see what i need to put her new one in at least there is attic above it if i have to go up there for more exploratory surgery to see how its mounted.

I get cortisone shots in my left wrist. A very unpleasant experience but it does work, for maybe 6 months I am pain free in that wrist. Then I bite the bullet and do it again.

Hopefully your shot will help you. Most people who get them feel major improvements in pain reduction within 24-48 hours.

And POOF!

We have been granted utility power again by the deities that control electrons transmitted over copper wire.

Why? Because I started looking up manual transfer switches and wire to hook up my little 3500 watt generator to the power panel in the garage/workshop/apartment. Start shopping for an alternative and the power goes back on.

Not doing much today other than watch mother nature on pms. The hag can't make up her mind what she wants. So far today, I've seen sunshine, I've seen rain, I've seen snow.....yes, snow! It's only +2 celcius. Yesterday, the forecast was calling for +19 Saturday. Now it's +9. We had talked about going to open up camp on Friday. I haven't been out yet this year but have seen pictures. This was a few days ago. received_984182367416518.jpeg

Nothing too packed today, just handling a few things and keeping the day light. Might take a break later and step out for a bit.
If I don’t feel like cooking, I’ll probably grab something easy. Last time I was in this kind of mood, I ended up at Tacomasa and it was a simple, no hassle dinner, so might do something similar again.

I took Crumpy out today. Ou r favorite pizzeria in Wentzville for almost 30 years. We try to go there once a month now however, last month, on our way, we stopped at the DMV. That did not go well and I ended up in the hospital.

Today I am gimping about a bit. Doing house work. But my hip is still very sore.
I did some driving for the first time today.
It turned out Ok with no real accidents.
I think I need to visit the liquor store.

I have got to pick up Crumpy at GM tonite. I needed her car because I cannot yet drive a stick shift.
So far I haven't wrecked her baby.

I'll stop for fuel and a gallon of milk on my way.
I pick her up at 11:10PM

Today ended up being "battery maintenance day". I spent the morning refilling the batteries on the golf cart with fluid and charging them up (without a repeat performance of last year when I nearly blew my wedding ring finger off, I might add) Then turned my attention to the boat. Hauled it out of storage, took the cover off, went through and installed the batteries on it as they are also refillable. There's still snowbanks in the yard and ice on the lakes but the boat is ready to go as monday morning, I am dropping it off to have the engine serviced. I had actually planned on going to open up camp today and spend the night however the temperature is supposed to drop below freezing tonight. I'm not going out just to burn through propane to heat the camper.

Looking around at the forum and thinking what the heck?
Lots of new activity and members here.
Which is a good thing.

Today I've continued to be busy.
Busier than I've been in a while outside of work, all the extras and everything else in between.
Life gets crazy at times.
Apparently this is my time 🤔🙄
I'll get through it.

Finally, a rather painless day as I recover from a broken hip.
A new issue. My Blood pressure is off the chart. Normally 130 of 80 and steady as a rock, it is climbing this week every day. 148/90 this morning. I wonder if I need to go back on the Exforge that made me pass out.

Pool guys showed up early and opened the pool. Water was not too bad, just cloudy. It was low so I ran 2 hoses into the skimmer basket and fired up the pump. Got the chlorine shock, because the sun turned it green very quickly so the shock halted that. Chlorine is now 'floating' in the little basket things until the level comes up enough.

Ran some errands.

Landscaper called me, he is tearing out a highly planted yard . . . wanted to know if I wanted flowers. I drove over and got 2 full, and I mean packed, truck loads of Day Lilies. Bed on my truck is 5'2" long and 54" wide, so not sure how many clumps of day lilies that works out to but the average club can be divided into 3 or 4 smaller clumps for planting. So plenty of digging in the near future.

He wants me to come back on Sunday and haul away as much more as I want. There is probably another 1/2, maybe even full truckload of day lilies remaining. Plus a lot of other stuff. And he already had an entire dump truck full of plants to haul to the dump.

Anything I take is FREE to me, it saves him money at the landfill if I take it.

Bus runs today between them finished last (that I know of) ceiling fan / light at my daughters, on to the bathroom fan that wasn't mounted from below up in the attic found the screws and electrical connections got that removed. back down stairs to install new one from downstairs mounted it. back up stairs to to wire it up and hook up duct work hat needs to be replaced next time i get to Loews to get parts and a new louver for outside. I have the room I'm thinking of using PVC pipe so it cant rust or get chewed by the critters that are running around on the roof and gutters.

Finished the tractor mowing, had a bumper crop this year, some higher than the tractor, top picture is my driveway, first time in 20 years I had to weed eat the driveway, pretty much done, have a couple more days with the weed eater hitting spots I could get with the tractor. It’s my least favorite chore, happy it’s only a couple weeks each year. Scratches, scrapes, allergies and incect bites.

I did nuthin' today. I mean absolutely nuthin! I awoke at 7:00 AM and went back to bed. Awoke at 11:30 ad went back to sleep on the couch. At130PMImade coffee and sent Crumpy off to work.
About 3:45 I awoke to my granddaughter's arrival school.

Watching FOX and made dinner about 8:00 PM.

This broken/hip recovering is Boring & Tiring.

I have 2 driveways. One asphalt and one is grave/crush & run limestone. I need to rake the gravel, and get some weed killer on that one too. But the snowblower is still hooked up the the 3pt hitch and I need to get that off . . . but the doctor has me on light duty and the lovely Mrs_Bob has me on a pretty tight leash for lifting heavy things so not sure if I will get anything done as soon as it needs to be done!

We had tornadoes this week in north Texas, so Hubby and I have been cleaning up. Our house is fine, so no complaints, but a lot of cleaning up to do! Lost great trees which will be great firewood.
I'm still cleaning up storm damage from the wind storm we had right before Christmas. I guess we have well over 100 trees that went down, but I'm only focusing on the trees around the house and ones not too far away. Lots of firewood.

We had a tornado about a month/6 weeks ago. Went through about 5 miles south of me and through the property of one of my friends. Another friend was also very near the path but she was good.

This week we had a wind storm, sheer winds, but not a tornado. Lost power for almost 48 hours. My main generator took care of me. My workshop/back garage/guest apartment didn't have power so we moved my S-I-L's food into the main house refrigerators and freezers. I lent out my small, spare, generator to a neighbor to keep his refrigerators and freezers running.

We didn't have major tree damage, that happened about a mile north of me and I saw a lot of big trees torn apart. I have woods and I think the combination of brush, small and large trees prevented major damage. Lots of small branches everywhere, some mid size, but no tree falls.

Everything worked out fine. It is good to be prepared.

Going to work today. I work for myself, I clean houses and some businesses, so I make my own schedule. I have great regular clients!! Spending time with my critters later. I have a donkey who is shedding pretty hard right now, he'll be wanting his daily brushing!

My wife has one of those!!!
Seriously, I am "Francis" of Francis the Mule movies circa 1950's. She married me despite my obvious flaws, and I love it when she brushes my hair and my ego!

The plan WAS to head to camp yesterday to open up and stay the night. However the forecast temperatures called for below freezing 🥶 last night so I opted for today instead as I intended to take the electric golf cart out but the batteries needed to be filled and charged up overnight.

The first trip out is always hectic as I bring out all the bedding. Open the slides. Bring out 3 propane tanks to install. Place all the outdoor furniture. Among other things. That's the plan today. Load the golf cart and head out to open camp.

Don't have any set plans. I will probably go the the range and whack a few golf balls.

I will definitely be home and settled in the recliner around 4-5:00. I love the Kentucky Derby and all of the Triple Crown races.
The wife and I went to the Kentucky derby several years ago. We had a great time, especially since it was all on the company's dime.

I have been to Churchill Downs, but not for the Derby. I was able to tour the track and the paddock area, and they were running a card that day. I was in heaven. Closest I have been was the Bluegrass Stakes at Keeneland. Much the same as the Derby, everybody dresses up. The winner of the Bluegrass qualifies for the Derby.
