What are you doing today, II

Scotts grass seed. GRRRRR. "CONTAINS 37.5% CLAY". WTF?!?! Total inert ingredients are over 50% of the package. Why can't they just sell seed anymore?
It is easier to spread evenly when there is 'filler' added into the mix, especially through a mechanical spreader.

But you can get just seed if you want, just have to be really specific and read the labels.

The coating also helps hold moisture. But yeah, you can't get plain seed at the big box stores anymore. Used to be a nursery right down the road from me that sold bulk plain ole grass seed.

Today started with the usual 5am sore back so time to get up and do something. Well, I'd been messing around with an old laptop for a few days trying to revive it. Somehow in the process managed to change my password on facebook to something else and link it to my wife's facebook account. Of course she started getting notifications on her phone saying someone is trying to log in etc. Fast forward two days and I finally got it sorted out. All is good again. In the process, I factory reset the old laptop this morning and went through the whole setup process only to end up logged back in to my wife's account again. Ended up using my phone that was still logged in to my account and changed my password. That solved it. In between there somewhere, I went out to plow snow for an hour with the sxs as soon as the snow stopped before it warmed up and became a slushy mess in the drive. I also located and ordered a replacement pump for my plow truck.

I've been trying to keep up here, but I've been distracted lately lol
I worked Saturday night, slept or tried to most of Sunday but it being Easter that didn't happen, talked to my kids today.
Went shopping, checked the work schedule and picked up Wednesday night shift although I've been working Tuesday and Saturday only for a while now.
I went to Agave Grill and picked up dinner.
Came home, cleaned, took the trash over to the dumpster next to our apartment complex, then talked to the new couple who recently moved in next door.
He's from Toledo and got a job at Campbell's, he's in a rock band, she's soon to hire in there also if she doesn't get a job at Keller.

I'M BACK!

Four weeks in the hospital planned. I am on Crumpy's lap top and it doesn't like me

I fell at the DMV. I just stood up an passed out.

the result was a comical and very painful day.
I will get into the story later but for now I am having a good time flirting with the help.

My thanks and appreciation to all.

Did Crumpy tell you that she sold your eBike while you were delusional?

Tore apart an original toilet and rebuilt it today. It is original to the house and one of the old 2.5 gallon tank toilets rather than one of the modern low water toilets. I bought them BEFOER the government banned them. But the valve is so coated with iron from the recent water soften failure that it was not working properly. The new FluidMaster kit resolved all the issues.

Fencing club is going to hold a "summer camp" for kids. They were considering names for the summer camp.

Apparently the Native American Indian name "Camp BobIsGonnaHitYou" did not make the final cut.

At 6pm tonight I'll be flushing the chlorine out of the pipes. So I'm looking forward to an exciting evening here at the house.

When I built my house in 2000, I REALLY REALLY didn't want a "low consumption" toilet in my house. So Wifey and I drove to Sault Ste Marie Canada to buy a 3 1/2 gallon toilet from Canadian Tire. (I read about the toilet-smuggling trade in Playboy Magazine).

The county inspector never suspected a thing, never even looked at it.

Also,..... the last time I re-did the bathroom, I moved the toilet. ( I moved a wall three feet to make the room larger......... long story). When I bolted the toilet back down, I put a large plastic spider in the open space, underneath. The next time someone replaces the wax ring, or something like that......... they're going to get a big surprise when they get the bowl up off the floor.

:devilish:

I wasn't as active today as I was hurting from yesterday's events. But more on that later. Today? I went to the dump. And made a banana Bannock while helping my wife edit the obituary of the kids grandmother.

Yesterday, my wife and I drove to her former inlaws. I plowed the driveway while she talked with him inside. We spent the afternoon reminiscing on his wife who passed away. Then came home and decided to do the semi annual ceiling fan maintenance which involves lugging around a heavy folding step ladder that extends to 16 ft and carefully opening it up and collapsing it not once but three times inside the house and moving it around without hitting furniture. 3 ceiling fans. 16ft vaulted ceilings in the bedroom and living room. I go up every spring and fall, dust them, switch from forward to reverse and while I'm up there switch the battery in the smoke detector. (Friendly reminder 😉) So after the whole ladder setup take down which I still have to do once more to reinstall the smoke detector, I'm sore.

I do the ladder fan ritual year over too

I buy the ceiling fans with the reverse process built into the remote. I have one of those long poles with the brushes on it so no ladder required.
Bucked the logs in the yard yesterday. Will take a shot at splitting them today. Too big/heavy to put on the splitter for horizontal splitting so I'll have to go vertical until they're in smaller chunks. That vertical splitting messes with my back.

Yeah, ours aren't that fancy. They only have the reverse switch on the housing itself. I have a long handled duster as well but figured while I'm up there, may as well give them a proper wipe down.

Today? I already drove to the city in a snowstorm to pick up a couple replacement hinges for the house garage door, Two of the main side hinges holding the rollers in place snapped yesterday. 8x16 door. Came home and got that fixed so My wife could get her expedition out of the garage to head in and help the former father in law with funeral preparations for his wife. The only thing I have to do is prep supper this afternoon, and stay out of trouble. That was HER explicit instructions. Otherwise I'm free. Unsupervised and everything.

Filed my taxes today, so, that sucks. But it always feels as if a great burden has been lifted. Doing a little outside work. Feels good to get outside, but man have I got my work cut out for me. Spring is springing.

I have a fan brush that attaches to the shop vac, very handy. Had it for years. I too hate vertical splitting. I will usually halve or quarter big rounds with a splitting wedge and sledge. Most rounds can be lifted with the tractor bucket and transferred to the splitter. Still heavy as hell.

Just got home today.
Crumpy had some changes to the house. New ( sorta) furniture in the living room. Very nice stuff.

My broken hip was a hoot. Never, And I Mean NEVER! did I imagine such pain.
So, the surgeon screwed all the parts back together and I have spent two weeks chasing nurses and other patients at what can only be described as a luxury rehab center. I had a great time but don't tell Crumpy 'cause I am milking all this attention to the limit.

We're down at the FL condo.

The Mrs. said a month or 2 ago that the clothes dryer wasn't really working. It got hot but wouldn't dry. Had someone come over and he found the screen on the exterior of the dryer vent was clogged with lint. The screen was removed. I contacted the HOA and told them to have residents watch for this issue as it could pose a fire threat. They told us to put the screen back on. Today, I e-mailed them siting FL building code that screens SHOULD NOT be installed. They had no idea.

Today, having the furnace, registers, ducts... all cleaned out. The condo is 19 years old and has never had it cleaned. The guy stuck his hand in a vent and the duct was still covered with drywall dust from when it was first built.

Spending time with the pups this morning taking them for a walk together for the first time. It went great. Cooper has been giving coco the "stink eye" and let's out a grumble when he's around but tolerates him for the most part. They walked great together as long as the leashes were the same length. I just drove to the city to pick up a few larger chew toys and play toys for him. 20260413_125935.jpg20260413_093758.jpg

BTW, I already did some tree trimming today. Crumpy thought it was dead, so I cut a branch to check.
My hip reminded me I am not supposed to do garden work.
So did Crumpy. So, now exhausted,
I'm heading for bed.

Four weeks aga at the DMV, I stood up too fast. Next thing I know, I'm on the floor and cannot get up.
Broken right Hip.
No pain whatsoever until I tried to move. OMG. I had no idea.

As a paramedic I picked up hundreds of people complaining about pain. No matter hao gentle I was they complained. I thoughtt hey were just wooshes.

Nope. that really REALLY hurts.

Four weeks later, right femur screwed together, I can sit, lay down and sleep. That's it. Everything else is painful.

I cannot lift my leg more than two inches off the floor ,,, So the E-bikes are abandoned.

Doc says, "maybe" by late August.

Ive been trying to get the cabin garage door operator to work 1 day 2 weeks ago hung it (those torsion sprigs make every thing harder and being a pole building adds to the frustration). Saturday went to finish the Chinglish manual programing limits wasn't written clearly an I was getting frustrated and stopped. I went up this morning after my bus run called help number after 45 minuets got some one that their 1st language was ENGLISH yea 4 minuets with him and door limits were set. Install the battery back up door wont work ???? on phone again 10 minuets and its working (you have to put battery in when power is on to recognize the battery is there????? WTF?????

There's no power to garage at this point battery is going to be the prime mover my wife has a bad shoulder and cant lift the door.
generator is electric start if the battery is dead she can start the gen and put door up and charge the battery,

I was going to put the solar panels on the garage roof to run the well pump this weekend, but my daughter bought a house that needs some work so the next couple weeks will be me working on that to make it more livable.
