Trump is federalizing the city government of Washington DC. Eliminating sanctuary city policies that the city council passed into law. The Interior Department has mobilized the "park police" to empower them to work in cooperation with the National Guard and the DC Police.

Trump said they don't need more police in DC, they have thousands of them. He said they need to lock up the criminals and stop "no-cash bail" and other stupid policies that make the existing police force work 10 times as hard as it needs to because it won't be following a catch-and-release policy.

It will be interesting to see how it actually plays out.

Could this be a model city for a 'fix' to failed 'blue' cities? If it fails it will be problem in the next election cycle. It is succeeds it could be a stick used to beat back the crime rates in the big crime cities.

Harder to do than DC

DC has special status because it is not part of a "state" and resides as a special jurisdiction. LA and SF, plus other cities like Chicago, NYC, Atlanta, etc are within the jurisdiction of a State.

But if Trump can "fix" D.C. then is clear that there is a model for Minneapolis, Denver, Portland, Indianapolis, Baltimore, etc.
