Trump's First Real Test

Slant Eyed Polack

Well-known member
Up until now, Trump has been calling the shots. EOs, appointments, tariffs, the big beautiful bill… he’s been the instigator, obliging everyone else to react. He’s been able to control – or at least guide – the narrative. The current “coddle the aliens” rioting is the first real test of Trump 2.0, a test he failed miserably the first time around, when he looked the other way while blue jurisdictions allowed the mob to riot, maim, kill, burn & destroy to the tune of billions in economic damage.

Regardless of how he deals with it, he’ll be condemned as Literally Hitler™ - whether he posts something snarky on Truth Social, or sends in the Guard with water cannons. Since he’s going to get dumped on either way, my hope is that he goes all in & humiliates the mob. Give it to them, Mr. President – gooder and harder.

Here's how I see Trump, myself as a non American from the ignored third world:
The first time, before he came to power, he had a similar plan for Americans. He wanted to change the whole behaviour of American politics. He even said that the US was on the wrong side of the Syrian war. But when he came to power he was scared that he wouldn't be able to survive without making the "established establishment" happy, so he bombed Syria. He said he ordered the missile "over cup of tea." He thought such change of his policy would make him be seen as someone who would continue what was going on, and that would make democrats less irritated.
But he saw what the truth is: no matter what you do, you will be slandered and condmend. He learned it, and in the second term reminded himself that either he should continue with his own policy, or go down in history as a failure.
So he has no other option. Either go all in, or be a failure. I think he will choose wisely.

(I'm just an outsider so please forgive me if my opinion is against yours. I mean no harm.)

I think your opinion is in alignment with the US polls that show that President Trump has the approval of the American people. He was elected to enact his policies. He has support because people see him as fighting the establishment and working for his policies.

I also think that he has nothing more to lose in terms of his image, so we might as well act firmly if he wants to make an impression. But it will have to be legal, clean, and without smudging – otherwise it will backfire on him again. In short, it's now or never to show that he learns from his mistakes.

I agree. Except that I doubt The president is nit terribly concerned about his image. More important to him is his mission.

Re-election is off the table. In the next four years, (3 1/2 actually) President Trump has only success to consider when making decisions for the nation.
