Great idea!
Some suggest leaving it on all year. I have issues with that. Number one being noon should be with the sun at apex in the sky.
One cannot reset a sun dial.

Frankly, I always thought it a confusing, and very expensive, bad idea.
Twice a year we fool, ourselves by changing the hours of the day foreword, or backward. Then spend two weeks getting our bodies settled in the new time.
For what????
It's a Nixon thing. So, I am surprised its annoyance hasn't been eliminated already.
GO BACK TO STANDARD TIME!

History: it was brought out so kids would have one more hour of sunlight to work in the fields after they came home from school.
How relevant do you think that is today? :ROFLMAO:

For over180 years our kids got by on standard time. For over 100 years they lived by kerosine lamplight.
Yeah, they went home at night. Like kids should.

You asked.

In truth DST wasn't for the kids. It was so the working class could enjoy more daylight after work.
Our civilization. Are you kidding me? I believe that we, the USA, are the only nation that does DST.
It's insultingly stupid that we adults accept it as if it were a good thing that made a difference.
At best it gives the belief that we have more daylight for fun activities when we could just
as easily adjust our schedules in order to achieve exactly the very same thing.
It cost industry and governments a fortune twice a year.

Like I said, it was a NIXON era idea. Not many good ideas came from his Administration.

I agree with everything you said.
Additionally, there are a lot more car accidents on the way to work, the first day after going forward one hour because people got one hour less sleep then night before.
 
We, in Indiana, did away with the biennial time changes for several years and then started it back up again. It was the result of the state of New York filing a lawsuit against Indiana to force observance of the time change.

I wondered why anyone in NY would care enough about the policies in IN to hire lawyers for something that would seemingly have no effect on them. I was told that it all had to do with television "Prime Time" and it was supposedly causing programming problems and loss of revenue and resources to the syndicated broadcasters in establishing advertising rate fees. (???) Oh, well. That's a couple of steps above my pay grade!

I don't know if this is bunk....(I suspect that it is), but nothing would surprise me anymore. I've heard rumblings about this possibility before.

I'm glad I'm past mid-life. If things keep going on this track, it will quickly become a world I no longer want to live in.

I wish people would just leave God's creation alone! He knew what he was doing.
 
As a bus driver I pick up 80% of my run before the sun us up above the horizon about 50% while its still dark on the best days now go to winter and its 100% I asked the kids one day before school got out they said they wanted it so they could go home and play, do chores, hunt or other outdoor activities in some light. it doesn't matter to me but ill live with it.
 
When I was working , I looked forward to the extra hour of daylight when I got home.

Now that I’m retired and go to bed when I choose and sleep as late as I choose it really doesn’t matter to me.

There’s an old Indian saying that only a white man would cut a foot off the bottom of the blanket, sew it to the top, and think he has a longer blanket.
 
If we are going to pick one to stick with I'd vote for standard time.
Springing forward and falling back really did not bother me. And now that I'm retired it bothers me even less. I suspect the wintertime sunrise if on daylight savings time would be hard to get used to.
 
I don't care one way or the other. We have one clock that we have to change, take 30 seconds, the rest change automatically. That brings up a question, since most clocks change automatically now days, will we need to change them back?
