Somebody gave some of that welfare cheese years ago. Thats the best cheese ever! Why can't we buy that stuff?
 
When I was 14, a neighbor who we never met came over to our home and offered to us ALL of the tomatoes in her garden. (We were to get a hard freeze overnight, which would have destroyed her entire crop).

We had tomatoes in every single window, for weeks. (Maybe months). Every day after school, I would make two tomato and "gubment cheese" sammiches with miracle whip and heavy salt. It was glorious.

You couldn't pay me to eat a tomato sandwich, today. (But Man..... those were the days).

I remember the cheese, and the huge blocks of real government butter. We ate the hell out of toasted cheese sammiches. REAL butter, it was wonderful!

We made a lot of cheese dip too, before everyone called it queso. Melted cheese, a bit of butter and milk to keep it from reverting to vinyl, and a can of store brand Rotel.
