I find it amazing no one has commented on Russia placing bounties on US soldiers in Afghanistan. No outrage on here, or conversely anyone trying to make excuses for the President. Either he knew and did nothing or it was his dereliction of duty not reading his daily briefings (we’ve heard those stories before so not hard to imagine). If he truly wasn’t informed then those responsible for sharing that info with him should be immediately fired. I think no one has commented yet because Trump and the spinmeisters are chasing their asses trying to come up with a defense of the indefensible, the story keeps changing. This goes far beyond partisan politics if true. I’d still like to hear the Commander in Chief say “Vlad if this is true there will be hell to pay” - also crickets.

Anyone that is surprised by Russia's actions clearly has no clue about history. We funded and supplied the Taliban when Russia invaded Afghanistan back in the 80's. It's totally payback for what we did - Russia (and China) are not our friends and will work against us in anyway possible.

The only way we could have "prevented" this would have been to nuke all of Russia - which I suspect wouldn't have worked out all that well.

Benghazi was completely different. We had the opportunity to help the people in Benghazi but the politicians sat on their hands and then tried to blame some idiot on YouTube.

At the end of the day this is just election year fake news.

No, I wasn’t waiting to attack- I was surprised the issue hadn’t been brought up. Even to say here they go again with another bs attack. The story has been out for days and the message from the White House hasn’t been consistent, that raises questions. I agree that the facts need to come out and hopefully they determine that nothing ever came of it.

But if it is true, I can’t wrap my head around why Trump wants our enemy to be in the G-8. If it’s to help fight terrorism in the Middle East it’s strange to partner with the country paying terrorists to kill our troops.

It would seem Americans are only concerned or aware of what is happening now. The reason no one here is particularly concerned about this Russia hoax is that;
A) we are busy with real events happening now. IE,,; Covid-19 and the Race rioting in our cities.
B) Americans have become skeptical over any news headline with Russia in the title from the left wing press,
C)That the Russians have paid people to kill Americans, just like we paid people to kill Russians in Afghanistan, is hardly shocking news.

The only reason it has entered the news cycle is to imply Trump withheld the info or didn't act, somehow making him appear incompetent or untrustworthy.

Next the MSM will inform us that Trump still had TP in the Whitehouse bathrooms when the rest of us were scouring stores to find a roll.
That is the kind of "news" this is.

To me it's a non-news story and, if true, is a really bad business decision on the part of Russia. Why pay people to do something that they will gladly do for free? Sounds like a waste of money to me, money that Russia doesn't have.

Besides, as someone else said, I don't believe anything in the main street media especially if it starts with or contains "Russia" or "Ukraine" in the headline. After 4 years of "Explosive new revelations that'll bring down Trump's Government" I'm kind of burned out.

I’ve got no issue with confederate statues being removed from public places, just not the way they are doing it- they should be in a civil war museum, not holding a place of honor on our streets. They tried to over throw the US and lost, they aren’t national heroes. Significant US statues should remain as a remembrance of what role they played in the formation of the country, the fight for independence from a monarchy, the formation of a government that represents “all” people - even if they weren’t at that time living by today’s standards. There’s a difference between the two types of monuments. Many Republicans and military leaders are ready to ditch the confederate names from US bases, seems Trump is the only one opposed, which doesn’t make sense because he doesn’t like losers.

There is also a difference between peaceful protest and those that hijack unrest and do the looting, rioting and vandalism. That shit is stupid.. Cops shouldn’t stand on necks until people die and people are allowed to protest. We need good police. They get the real bad guys. The defund cry is stupid and misguided, as is saying BLM is a hate group. On the next road over there is a BLM sign in one yard and We support the police sign in the next. Im guessing there’s a little tension there. Everything has to be either/ or and that’s what I can’t stand about Trumps style. It divides us, everyone is pissed off.

I haven’t read a single article about the Seattle and similar situations, nothing like that going on around here.

Covid handling was a disaster. It’s currently under control here in NY as the state has followed the cdc reopening guidelines. I’m guessing it won’t remain that way with all of the summer vacations happening though. Old folks homes have a concentration of the most at risk group of people, once it’s in there good luck stopping it.

I’m not real familiar with the rail project but if there was ever a need for both jobs and improved infrastructure I’d have to say now would probably be a good time.

Illegal immigration is illegal. There is also a need for migrant farm workers. There are ways to satisfy both sides, they just gotta work together to get the car out of the ditch.

At least most Americans (83% I think I saw in some poll today) can agree on one thing, the country is heading in the wrong direction. It can’t just go hard left or hard right, that doesn’t work for the masses

My thinking on all of this is based on the shit stew of info that is fed to me. I try to dig deep, give all sources a shot but we are all pigeon holed based on our clicks, and we are probably all in the dark as to what the truth really is.

History shouldn’t be erased, I agree there. But, would the people of Germany be cool with Hitler statues and Nazi flags on their streets because that is a part of history too? I’m not comparing the two because they are equivalent, but they are symbolically similar. Even the Liberal Mississippi government recognized the symbol needed to be removed from their state flag because a large percentage of Americans find it offensive. Fly it at your own home if you feel the need but in publicly owned places it’s hard to justify.

Hmm, lots of looks but no replies.

I’m not a leftist liberal by any means. I’m not looking to change anyone’s mind or say I’m right your wrong. I’m just trying to understand other perspectives. My point in starting the thread was to see if any of the culture war topics were actually that important, or if it’s just fodder for the base. From the few replies and thumbs up, I’m seeing that it is the latter. Trump supporters support trump. It’s about feelings for a guy not what he stands for. It struck me when I saw a boat that had Trump in large vinyl letter down both sides. Did anyone ever have a Biden boat or car, or Bush or Hillary or any person? Maybe and I just haven’t been in the right place.

I don’t think the guy is doing himself any favors with the divisive all or nothing approach. Yes the die hards are out in full force but it pushes away the moderates and centrists. In my circle of friends I’d estimate approximately half were Trump voters, and half of them regret their vote and won’t be voting for him again. 2016 was a completely different election- Hillary is toxic and it pushed many to Trump. Biden is old but he doesn’t cause as many people to throw up in their mouths like she did. Trump lacks humanity and that is something the country needs when there are things like global pandemics, racial tensions, a bad economy, and on and on. He was all for the armed reopen the state protests even though that is proving to be a colossal mistake but denounces peaceful protest as an angry mob (most BLM protests were peaceful, some angry mob rioter anarchists took advantage of the situation)

I still think reading a Presidential Daily Brief is one of the responsibilities of the job, Vlad is bad, protecting our troops is priority one, the buck stops at the Oval Office, truth brings respect, and Trump keeps shooting himself in the foot. I also think he’d rather burn the place down than go out a loser, that is a bit concerning to me.

Didn’t see him. I also wasn’t aware it’s an organized group. I was referring to the community support I’ve seen around this mostly white rural/suburban community. There are a handful of African American children in the same grades as my children and the community as a whole have said their Black Lives Matter. There was a little rioting and looting in Rochester, a largely African American population. At the protest there were black and white and all other races of people saying police brutality against anyone but especially unarmed black men like George Floyd can’t continue. We saw that. It was a murder and people are pissed. Here is one of the guys arrested in Rochester, a white dude from Pennsylvania.

I don’t think any less of them for who they support politically as that is not something that gets between us. The guy in the video is liberal but he gets to the truth. I value truth and honesty above all other things. Most people are a little of this and a little of that. Believe in what you want but don’t jam it down other people’s throats. The hysteria is online and in the left/right media Even people that are different are usually pretty good people on average. There were a couple guys near here that made the news. I would like to share some history here...
The confederate statues are there for a reason, everyone seems to miss. Maybe they were not paying attention in history class?
At the end of the civil war some thing indeed strange happened. There were NO prisoners of war, not a single one. Not one confederate soldier was ever tried for war crimes, not one. At the end of the civil war Lincoln was tasked with bringing a divided nation back into and undivided one. What he did was and still is to this day, unmatched by any other war. He simply told the confederate soldiers to "go home" and pick up their lives as Americans, as we all are. The confederate statues were created to show respect for their efforts, to acknowledge the fact that this war cost many life's on both sides. It was an attempt at recognize the Confederacy and it's soldiers as not evil or villainous, but Americans who fought for and lost.. but in the end were still a part of this nation. This is the reason we have statues of important members of the Confederacy. Strangely in all the bickering, I have heard no one mention these facts.
