Hi everyone,
After spending some time out West hitting the big parks like Yosemite and the Redwoods, my wife and I are shifting gears for our next trip. We’ve just booked a route that takes us through Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma.
I’ve seen plenty of pictures of the western parts of these states, and they look fantastic. I know it’s a different vibe compared to the dramatic peaks of the Sierras, but we’re really looking forward to the scale and the history of the plains.
I’m looking for some advice from anyone who has road-tripped through the 'Middle of the Country':
Any suggestions or 'pro-tips' for this specific region would be greatly appreciated!

I’m looking for some advice from anyone who has road-tripped through the 'Middle of the Country':
- Must-See Spots: Beyond the main interstates, what are the absolute 'don't miss' locations for scenery or unique history?
- Roadside Culture: We love quirky, 'middle-of-nowhere' stops. Are there any hidden landmarks or small towns that are worth a detour?
- Planning Tips: We’re trying to build a route that leans into the 'prairie/frontier' aesthetic. Any recommendations for scenic byways that offer the best experience?
