The pilot with the knife is Omani. His victim is Indian.

Islam is the official state religion in Oman, which uses Sharia law as the basis for its legislation. And then there's this:

We musn't speculate about any possible religious motivations on the part of the Omani perpetrator aboard a planeload of Jews. That would be bigoted and hateful.

They ought to restrict all the pilot certificates registered to "Muhammad" to light aircraft only.

His motives will likely never be known. As best we can tell, he is a Mostly Peaceful™ pilot who accidentally brought a knife into the cockpit and curiously stabbed the captain over and over again and shouted "allahu akbar" just before he sent the plane into a nosedive. Just an odd series of honest mistakes, probably precipitated by someone else in his family. Just like how Lindsay Clancy's husband is really to blame for his wife murdering their kids. Duh.

This guy's name is Petter Hörnfeldt. He spent 20 years flying 737s, and has an outstanding channel called Mentour Pilot. It's a go to for me when aviation incidents occur.

The co-pilot who attacked the captain has been identified as Reginald Stephen Carmichael lll. Oh waitaminit, that's a typo. The terrorist's name is Hamam al-Hammami. We will not speculate about possible religious affiliations, because that would be bigoted and hateful.
