Yesterday was a year already. It hasn't been easy. I've been trying to do as much as possible to help mom since it happened. They had just bought a property with a huge shop and a nice 2 bedroom house on 5 acres of land on the outskirts of the city last year in the spring then he was killed in September. So of course there's been lots of work to do. Thankfully most of their stuff was still packed. The place is now for sale and I have been working with mom to sort through everything and make trips to the dump etc. There is still a bunch of work to do though as the ground there is very rocky. This means that the trees around are all dying as the roots cannot get deep. I have been over there a few times cutting down dead trees and clearing brush.

Just got home from 5 days at the state park without much internet and barely cell service. Sorry to see this, but it does get easier with more time. The memories remain but the sadness seems to fade with the years. Hang on to the good memories and pass them on to your kids through stories.

My heart is breaking as I type this. I lost my dad yesterday in a tractor trailer incident. He was retired for a few years but decided to go back to work out of boredom at 67 driving a tractor trailer hauling heavy equipment around the region.

He was delivering a large excavator to a work site. The trailer has the detachable goose neck to unload from the front of the trailer. After he was done unloading the machine, he backed up the tractor unit to reconnect. He forgot to pull the air brake know and when he reconnected the air lines, the brakes released and the truck rolled backwards over him killing him instantly. We are all in shock.

This is him 3 days ago on their 48th wedding anniversary.

I'm sorry for your dad's loss. I wish he were still with us, driving his tractor at the venerable age he was. Getting to seventy and wanting to return to his path in life is respectable in all jobs. My uncle went back to teaching architecture at university past seventy. My prayers go out to you and your family.
