More Imps on ksl.com

Here are a couple of Imps listed on ksl.com.

The first is ex-Rocky Mountain Power. I prefer buying snowcats that were previously owned by utility companies, as they are generally well maintained and don’t get a lot of hours. This one though seems pretty rough, and the price (IMHO) is reflective of a machine in substantially nicer condition. The seller, “Rob” buys and sells used snowcats pretty regularly and I’m not sure there is any value added during the period of his ownership.

The second is a 1963 Imp. The seller says it has a Ford V-4 Industrial engine. It certainly may have, but my recollection is the early Imps used Wisconsin V-4 air cooled engines rated at 30 HP. I also recall the engines were not enclosed, but rather were fully exposed inside the cab. Being in close proximity to a hot exhaust manifold is not a good thing, and especially not for children. (The seller did not post any pics of the inside of the cab.) Yes, it comes with a trailer (single axle), but the price seems extreme to me….

(I think this machine was for sale from the same seller within the last year or two as well.)

I got that 63 Imp from a motorsports dealer here in utah 2 seasons ago for around $9k after tax if I remember right. Ran in for a bit before the clutch went out and replaced it. Ended up trading it to a guy near beaver Utah that worked at a ski resort. Looks like they got rid of it and it got repainted and put back up for sale. You can look at my previous posts for some pics of the interior and engine.
Kind of funny to see it pass through so many hands so quick and skyrocket in price. Curious if he ended up selling and for how much.
