War with Iran has started.

Hopefully short and hopefully leading to an overthrow of the Iranian regime, which hopefully will actually happen on the ground by internal revolution and without the need for any ground troops from Israel or the USA.

The home of IRAN's Supreme leader has been targeted and destroyed.

WAR: Trump, Netanyahu Strike Iranian Mullahs, Iran Retaliates.

Israel and the United States reportedly carried out a series of missile attacks on Iran early Saturday morning, with explosions reported in Tehran. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) issued a warning to its citizens, urging them to prepare for potential retaliatory strikes. Sirens were heard across Israel as tensions escalated in the region.

As of 3:15AM EST, Iran is believed to have retaliated with ballistic missiles headed towards Israel, though it is unclear if any of the missiles struck their targets at the time of publication. This report will be updated as and when confirmation is received.

A full transcript and video of President Trump’s speech shortly after this report was published is available here.

The New York Times and Wall Street Journal reported the strikes were a joint operation between U.S. and Israeli forces, though we are awaiting confirmation at the time of publication.

“The U.S. and Israel launched an attack on Iran on Saturday, bringing war to the country for the second time in eight months and risking a wider regional conflict in one of the most economically sensitive parts of the world,” the Wall Street Journal reported as of 1:50am EST.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz declared a state of emergency as thick smoke rose from the explosion sites in downtown Tehran. Iranian state media confirmed the reports of explosions in the capital city.

The IDF released a national warning, stating, “This is a proactive alert to prepare the public for the possibility of missiles being launched toward the State of Israel.” The attack comes amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States over Tehran’s nuclear program.

Earlier this week, former President Donald Trump warned during his State of the Union address that Iran is “working on missiles that will soon reach” the United States. Trump also described Iran as the “number one sponsor of terrorism” and vowed to prevent the regime from acquiring nuclear weapons. U.S. intelligence, however, has not yet concluded that Iran possesses the capability to develop intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) capable of reaching the U.S. homeland.

The situation remains tense, with two U.S. aircraft carrier strike groups in the region and ongoing diplomatic meetings involving key figures, such as Jared Kushner and Oman’s foreign minister, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi. Additional talks are reportedly scheduled as efforts to address the escalating crisis continue.

As Israel and the United States launched a massive wave of strikes across Iran on Saturday, the picture of what was happening on the ground in Tehran and other cities was unclear amid a major internet blackout, though videos posted to social media appeared to show some Iranians celebrating as they saw regime targets go up in smoke.

According to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump, the strikes aimed to cripple the Islamic Republic’s military and political leadership, with the two leaders urging Iranians to seize the opportunity and topple their government.

Among the targets struck Saturday morning was the Tehran palace of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, which was completely destroyed, as well as dozens of other military and regime targets across the country. Khamenei, President Masoud Pezeshkian and top regime and military commanders were targeted, according to an Israeli official, though the results of the strikes were unclear.

Targets in the campaign also included Iran’s military, symbols of government and intelligence targets, according to an official briefed on the operation, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss nonpublic information on the attack.

Several senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commanders and political officials were killed in the strikes, an Iranian source close to the establishment told Reuters. According to Israeli officials, Israel assesses that the commander of the IRGC, Gen. Mohammad Pakpour, was likely killed, as well as the minister of defense and chief of intelligence.

The assessments have yet to be confirmed by Iran or by the IDF, though an Israeli source told Channel 12 of “very significant” harm to senior figures in the Iranian regime, and “indications” of direct hits.

Images circulating on social media Saturday showed smoke rising from dozens of buildings across Tehran.

According to satellite imagery published by The New York Times, Khamenei’s palace in the heart of Tehran was completely destroyed, with smoldering rubble seen where the once-grand building stood hours earlier.

It was not immediately clear whether Khamenei was present at the site, and Iranian media reported earlier in the day that he was moved to a “secure location.”

Images also showed thousands of Iranians flocking to the highways to flee Tehran.

Other videos circulating on social media appeared to show Iranians celebrating, with some laughing, as they saw smoke rising from the area surrounding Khamenei’s palace complex in central Tehran.

Another video from a high school showed students laughing and celebrating, with one saying in English: “I love Trump.”

In Tehran, a video appeared to show people dancing in the streets as they celebrated the strikes.

While the number of casualties suffered in Iran in the initial wave of the joint Israeli-US strikes was unclear, Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency reported Saturday afternoon that one strike hit a girls’ school in southern Iran, killing at least 40 people, including students.

At least 45 others were wounded in the attack in Minab in Iran’s Hormozgan province, the report said.

The IRGC has a base in the city.

Other reports in Iran said strikes hit at least a dozen cities across the country, as well as several major bases belonging to the military IRGC and Basij militia.

The Israeli and US strikes come after weeks of escalating tensions between the US and Iran, including three rounds of indirect nuclear talks that failed to produce a deal, a massive American military buildup in the region, and Trump’s warning during his State of the Union address that Iran was working to rebuild the nuclear program the US “obliterated” in strikes last June.

Some reports indicate that IRAN sent ballistic missiles toward Israel in a counter attack but I find no reports of any of those missiles hitting targets so, at this point, from what I can tell, if any missiles were fired, they were apparently intercepted, failed in flight or stopped by the Iron Dome defense system.

Iran launches counterattacks against US bases in the Gulf

Missiles and drones hit American facilities in Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said.

Iran launches missile attack on U.S. Navyâs 5th Fleet in Manama

BY ELIZA GKRITSI
Iran launched retaliatory strikes against U.S. military bases across the Persian Gulf region, as well as against Israel, after U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran earlier Saturday.

Missiles and drones hit the headquarters of the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet in Bahrain and other American bases in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said in a statement reported by the Iranian news agency IRNA. It also confirmed a wave of drones and missiles targeting Israel.

The statement said the strikes were “in response to the American-Zionist aggression on Iranian soil.”

A U.S. official told POLITICO that air defenses intercepted Iranian missiles aimed at American bases including Al Udeied in Qatar, the U.S. 5th Fleet in Bahrain, Ali Salem in Kuwait and Al Dhafra in the United Arab Emirates.

Qatar and the United Arab Emirates said that they intercepted Iranian missiles. The UAE saw one casualty from fallen debris, its defense ministry said.

Kuwait said its army repelled Iran’s attack and that it reserves the right to respond to Iran’s aggression in “a manner commensurate with the scale and nature of this violation and in accordance with international law.”

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola condemned the Iranian counterattacks, calling Tehran’s strikes on U.S. bases in Gulf countries “inexcusable and unjustifiable.”

“The regime in Iran must refrain from any further escalation in any targeting of the Gulf States, Israel or European or United States nationals,” she said in a post on X.

“The events unfolding in Iran must not lead to a spiral of escalation that could threaten the Middle East, Europe and beyond,” Metsola said.

Israel Defense Forces have said that sirens have been activated in various parts of the country, including Tel Aviv.

Most major airlines have cancelled flights to the region citing airspace closures.

Saudi Arabia condemned the attacks by Iran in the Gulf region and warned of “the grave consequences of the continued violation of the sovereignty of states and the principles of international law.”

“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia condemns and denounces in strongest terms the blatant Iranian aggression and the flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and Jordan,” the government said in a statement.

I have now seen MULTIPLE reports. All are OFFICIALLY unconfirmed. Iran's supreme leader may have been killed in one of the airstrikes?

Also, the heir apparent may have been similarly eliminated, but as of yet, unconfirmed:

Also, top advisors to Khemenei are now being posted as they have apparently been killed. Again, unconfirmed.

A computer hacking group, or perhaps a nation or one of its spy agencies, has hacked into popular Prayer Apps in IRAN and posted messages to encourage military soldiers in IRAN to defect and defend the protestors. Also encouraging uprisings against the government.

‘Join the liberation forces’: Iranian Islamic prayer app hack encourages regime defection - report

It is not clear who is responsible for the hack, with one of the messages reading “Help has arrived,” an apparent reference to a message issued by US President Donald Trump in January 2026.

An Iranian prayer app was hacked to display anti-regime messages, in support of the Iranian people, on Saturday, social media users reported before the internet blackout, as US and Israeli strikes targeted IRGC and regime facilities across Iran.
One message read in Persian, “For the freedom of Iranian brothers and sisters, this is a call for all repressive forces - push your weapons aside or join the liberation forces. Only this way can you save your life for Iran.”
It is not clear who is responsible for the hack, though it follows significant unrest in the Islamic Republic. Last month, protests broke out in response to the country’s economic crisis. The Islamic regime responded by brutally repressing protests, killing thousands at the demonstrations, and, according to medical sources who earlier spoke to The Jerusalem Post, killing protesters in hospital beds where they were being treated for injuries inflicted by security forces.

Tens of thousands have disappeared in Iran, with families left unsure if their loved ones are among those killed, detained, or disappeared in unregistered facilities, according to a report by Human Rights Watch published last week.
One of the messages pushed by the hackers read “Help has arrived,” an apparent reference to a message issued by US President Donald Trump in January, promising that the US would send help to the Iranian people.
“Iranian Patriots, keep protesting – take over your institutions! Save the names of the killers and abusers. They will pay a big price,” Trump swore at the time.

Cyberattacks spread across Iran

A number of state media outlets and affiliated sites were also targeted in cyberattacks, according to the semi-official Iran Student News Agency. IRNA, ISNA, Tabnak, and Asr-e Iran were reportedly among those impacted.
Netblocks, a global internet watchdog, confirmed that since the hacks, internet access in Iran has dropped to only 4%.

They did not bomb Iran. They waited for Iran’s entire leadership to sit down in the same room and then they bombed Iran.Months of intelligence.
Thousands of hours of surveillance and signal intercepts. One variable: the moment the Supreme Leader, the President, and senior military command gathered in a single location at the same time. That moment was 8:15 this morning.
Daylight.
Every previous Israeli strike on Iran came at night. June 2025 launched in darkness. October 2024 after midnight. Iran’s entire air defense doctrine is built around the assumption that Israel attacks in the dark. Israel attacked in broad daylight because the target was not infrastructure. The target was a meeting.
Reuters confirms strikes targeted Khamenei and Pezeshkian. CNN confirms months of joint US-Israeli planning. Israeli officials confirmed the strike hit the location where Iran’s top officials were gathered. Whether Khamenei was moved before the strike or extracted after is the most consequential unknown on the planet right now. If before, someone inside Tehran’s inner circle told Jerusalem when and where the meeting would happen. If after, the strikes hit the room and he survived. Both scenarios are catastrophic for the regime.
Because Iran’s leadership now knows three things. Israel knew where they were meeting. Israel knew when they were meeting. Israel knew who would be in the room. And everything we watched over the past month, the F-22s at Ovda, the tankers at Ben Gurion, Al Udeid emptied to zero, 270 transport flights, all of it was the delivery architecture for one precision strike on one gathering.
Every future meeting of Iran’s senior leadership now carries one question: does Israel know about this one too. This is not a military operation. This is the destruction of institutional trust inside a regime. Every general who sits with Khamenei tomorrow will wonder who told Jerusalem about today. Every IRGC commander who receives a meeting summons will calculate whether attendance is duty or a death sentence. Every secure facility in Tehran has been proven insecure.
In June 2025 Israel killed 30 generals in the opening minutes. That was brute force across dispersed targets. This was a scalpel. One meeting. One moment. Months of patience.Iran fired missiles at six countries in retaliation. Most intercepted. One civilian dead from debris in Abu Dhabi. Saudi Arabia responded by pledging all its capabilities against Iran. The Gulf coalition that did not exist yesterday exists today because Tehran built it by attacking everyone simultaneously.
Israel traded one morning of precision strikes for the permanent destruction of Iran’s command cohesion.
That is not a battle. That is checkmate disguised as a first move.

Iran Signals Ready To Deescalate After Defense Minister, IRGC Chief Killed In US-Israeli Strikes

Update (10:00ET): Will the chaos be contained, after Iran unleashed retaliatory missiles on at least five regional countries, including Israel? Iran is quickly signaling that it's not willing to escalate this further, hoping for a halt in the US-Israeli operation:

Iran is attacking U.S. military facilities in the Middle East region and not "Americans in their land," Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in his exclusive interview with NBC News.

He added that Tehran was interested in de-escalation and ready to talk once the joint U.S.-Israeli strikes end.
Amid rumors that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei could be dead, after direct strikes on his main headquarters in the capital, Araghchi said that he is still alive "as far as I know."

Araghchi is directly signaling the American side via an exclusive interview with NBC News. He spoke live from Tehran Saturday morning. He acknowledged that "two commanders had died but senior officials in the regime had survived including the head of the judiciary and the parliament speaker."

"All high ranking officials are alive," he said. "So everybody is now in its position, and we are handling this situation, and everything is fine."

Iranian Defense Minister Amir Nasirzadeh and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Mohammed Pakpour were killed in Israeli strikes, according to two sources briefed on Israel's military operations and one regional source, cited in Reuters.

As for finding the Ayatollah, he is probably deep in a hidden underground bunker that no one but his closest IRGC advisers know about. Americans need to be reminded that this is a country of over 90 million people and geographically is the size of half the European continent.

Bloomberg writes on the prospect of full regime change, which would likely require US boots on the ground:

Conflicting reports are circulating about who in Iran was targeted and whether the attacks were successful. If senior Iranian officials were indeed killed, that would be significant. But it doesn’t mean the end of the Islamic Republic.

While the Supreme Leader is the ultimate decision-maker, he isn’t the only one, and succession planning has been underway for years. Similarly, the Revolutionary Guards are deeply embedded across political, economic, and security sectors. Targeting their leadership would weaken them, but it wouldn’t dismantle the organization altogether.
Gulf populations in panic mode, via Bloomberg:

In Dubai, some delivery services have been suspended as people flood supermarkets to buy water and other food essentials. Stockpiling prompted UAE authorities to issue a statement to reassure residents and the millions of expatriates that there is ample supply.

The UAE said its strategic reserve of essential commodities is “robust, comprehensive and diversified and asked people to refrain from stockpiling.
The UK has meanwhile confirmed that it has planes in the air supporting the US-Israeli operation.

Main Iranian resistance group sets up provisional government after US, Israel strikes

The National Council of Resistance of Iran also publicly outlined a ten-point plan for the country's future if the Iranian regime falls

The National Council of Resistance of Iran, an anti-Iranian regime group, announced on Saturday a "provisional government to transfer sovereignty" to the Iranian people and establish a Democratic Republic after the United States and Israel launched strikes against the regime.

The organization also publicly outlined a ten-point plan for the country's future after the U.S. and Israeli military operation launched on Saturday.

"In these difficult circumstances, I call on all of you, especially the courageous youth of our country, to care for civilians and the general public, particularly children and the elderly. Protect them and help one another. Now is the time for solidarity," said Maryam Rajavi, president-elect of the NCRI.

"Our strength lies in the unity and cohesion of our people against the religious dictatorship and the remnants of monarchical fascism that seek to steal the democratic revolution. At this critical moment, I call upon our compatriots and all forces of Iran’s democratic revolution to remain vigilant and prepared," she added.

The ten-point plan includes "freedom of speech, freedom of political parties, freedom of assembly, freedom of the press and the internet" as well as the "dissolution and disbanding of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the terrorist Qods Force, plainclothes groups, the unpopular Bassij, the Ministry of Intelligence, Council of the Cultural Revolution, and all suppressive patrols and institutions in cities, villages, schools, universities, offices, and factories."

The group's plan calls for "commitment to individual and social freedoms and rights in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Humans Rights. Disbanding all agencies in charge of censorship and inquisition" as well as "seeking justice for massacred political prisoners, prohibition of torture, and the abolishment of the death penalty."

It also recommends "separation of religion and state, and freedom of religions and faiths."

UK has support aircraft helping Israel/US against Iran and is formally engaged in the fight, albeit as a defensive and supportive role.

While the UK is formally helping, the UK's Keir Starmer joined German & France in a demand letter to the respective US/Israel leaderships demanding de-escalation.

Canada's Mark Carney issued a statement saying Canada supports the actions of the US/Israel.

Australia issued a statement saying it stands with the Israeli/US actions.

France, in addition to showing Macron's strong masculine leadership by joining the above UK/German letter, stomped his size 8 tassel loafer and called for an emergency meeting of the United Nations after asking permission to do so from his larger and more masculine wife . . . I suppose because France wants to surrender to someone and simply don't know to whom they should give the white flag of cowardice. I'm guessing the folks at Polymarkets will post up odds on who will accept the flag of surrender from France . . . my bet is they will surrender to their own muslim immigrants who have flooded their boarders.

China and Russia called the actions of the US/Israel to be illegal actions and demand an immediate stop.

Saudi Arabia condemned the attack publicly, as have some other middle eastern nations. This is all a predictable response from the middle east nations but one can assume that some back channel 'cheering' is going on as there is a Shia-Sunni divide and the current/former Iranian regime is widely hated by many.

US Senator Lindsey Graham (R), and aging senior war monger in our US Senate, who has supported virtually every American aggression since the Revolutionary War, those both justified and questionable, In this particular case I tend to side with the notable war hawk against Iran, but I abhor his evil will to enter wars quickly and his long history of willingness to commit young US soldiers to battlefields. The South Carolina senator posted on X:

“To the leaders of France, Germany and the UK: the Iranian people are not wrong to demand the end to their oppression from the bloodthirsty ayatollah’s regime that has American and European blood on their hands,”
“You collectively are the ones that are wrong by refusing to come to the Iranian people’s aid and adding insult to injury, you’re suggesting we should continue to negotiate with religious Nazis,” “It is pathetic. How far Western Europe has fallen.”
“To our European allies: you have gone pathetically soft and lost your zeal for confronting evil apparently unless it’s on your front porch,” “So sad.”

There are several options for "off ramps" to de-escalation after the US' military operation in Iran, Donald Trump says.

"I can go long and take over the whole thing, or end it in two or three days and tell the Iranians: 'See you again in a few years if you start rebuilding [your nuclear programme],'" he tells Axios.

It's the first time the US president has commented on the operation since announcing the strikes on Saturday morning.

He says he finally took the decision to green-light the strikes due to the lack of progress over nuclear negotiations this week.

"The Iranians got close and then pulled back — close and then pulled back. I understood from that that they don't really want a deal," he says, according to the US outlet, which says they spoke to Trump for five minutes over the phone.

I've been hoping to see a regime change in Iran during my lifetime.

Seems that while Saudi Arabia made an early public rebuke of the attack on Iran, it also, very publicly condemned the Iranian missile launches against the various bases occupied by US soldiers. Saudi Arabia backs the US now, saying that Iran's retaliation, which hit targets in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Dubai, Qatar and a total of 8 middle eastern nations, is beyond reason and apparently is now supporting a regime change in Iran.

Pretty much all the world media seems to be reporting that much of the top leadership of Iran were killed.

Sources report that both Israel and the USA are telling Iranian soldiers they can lay down their arms, or defend the Iranian citizens and receive immunity, or they will die. So simple choice. Live by switching sides or die by protecting the dead regime.

French president Macron now is saying that Iran must now negotiate in good faith to end its nuclear and ballistic programs. Think about that. WHO is left to negotiate on behalf of Iran? Are they actually in charge? And when the US/Israeli bombing is done, will there be anything left as a negotiating point?

......... (Democrats must be melting into a puddle, right now).

I'm sure they are trying to coordinate with France's Macron on a workable strategy to pull their collective heads out of each other's butts.

Orange man bad. Jews bad.

Ignore the 30-60,000 deaths of Iranians at the hands of the dead regime members over the past 2 months. Ignore the abuses of women and human rights over the past 47 years. Ignore the funding of international terror groups like Hezbollah, Hamas, Houthis and Boco Haram. Ignore the deaths caused by all those groups.
