I never would have thought it possible but it appears both GA senate races are going to the Dems.

If Purdue loses his race the Senate will be 50-50
The GOP & the Dems will split the chairmanships of the various committees. Either agreeing to co-chairmen or with 1/2 of the committees headed by Dems and the other half headed by GOP members.
There will be very few times that a 50-50 tie breaker vote is ever needed. The Democrats will be able to pass a stimulus--SPENDING bill and will be able to do a few other things without too many obstacles. I believe they will have a fairly easy chance of getting Biden's choices for judges passed ... fortunately Trump and McConnell did a good job of filling a lot of vacancies so Biden's going to have a short time to try to make an impact on our courts and likely won't be able to too much damage.
Legislation which would likely require 60 votes to pass in the Senate will hit roadblocks, meaning that bipartisan support would be required to pass legislation related to infrastructure, a minimum wage increase, environmental policies, tech regulation and other issues.
I hope, I believe, that this Senate will get NOTHING DONE and we will be a better nation if they can't agree to do too much more damage to our national ideals.

The Democrats have been threatening to fundamentally change America for the last twenty years. Incrementally, they have succeeded.
We are long past having a nation of freedom loving citizens who understand the difference between personal freedoms and free stuff from the gubmit.
For those who hold out hope for today's Congressional actions to somehow retain President Trump, there is no way that will stop the runaway train of American socialism. If Trump prevails he has a combative Congress who will block everything he tries until they impeach him. With Biden, we may as well accept the results of voter stupidity, and malfeasance, and huddle in our shelters waiting for instructions from our imperial rulers.
Fear of COVID was #one in this Georgia election. Especially for the Democratic voters. And whilst McConnel did the responsible thing in blocking the foolish $2,000 checks we can't afford, that strategy turned the tide against the GOP and President Trump. The Democrats played a bad hand but, using the COVID fear, did it well.
Covid-19 was an undefeatable enemy for President Trump. It caused the mail in balloting and no matter what he did accomplish with vaccines and Stimulus money, Covid shot down his economic miracle. The Chinese strategy won. But Trump will get the blame.
Years from now, the truth will be evident to all. But the "I told you so's" will be of little comfort.

I really don't think the sky is falling here. We knew this was coming. You can't be a shit stirrer like Trump and expect folks to not react, especially when all that is required to respond is a mail-in vote. Not too hard to galvanize your opponents under those circumstances.
The Dems may enact some shitty legislation like they did in 2010 with Obamacare, then the House and Senate will go back to the conservatives in 2022.

Amazingly, I agree with you. My only exception would be the description of Trump's challenge to the status quote in DC. He stirred things up for sure. Using the term 'sh!t disturber" is arguably a matter of perspective, but absolutely true.
I call BS - there will never be a Republican/Conservative majority again. This election has only empowered the cheaters - there are no consequences.

I hope in the near future some governors, sec's of state, judges and election officials get charged with circumventing their state and federal constitutions by altering their state voting laws/rules without the consent of their legislature. This is a violation of the constitution, both state and federal, and I'm sure is a serious felony. If this isn't fixed before Nov '22 we can kiss free and fair elections goodbye!!

I see the graph and figured it was dem counties. I can't fathom that they would try major cheating in this key election with the entire nation awaiting the outcome. If they did I'm sure they will be caught. I am afraid Stacy Abrams and her team got out all the votes they could and kicked the repubs ass. Neither repub candidate was memorable ...I did think GA was a republican stronghold and they were shoe in's. Obviously I was wrong.
I'm not giving up on our republic. We have recovered from worse. Won't be easy but don't fret. Neither dems or repubs represent the middle anymore. Whichever adapts best will win. JMHO
I tend to agree that the Republic is dead. But it’s been dead for decades. G H W Bush undid much of the Reagan Revolution and helped usher in greater centralized power. He was a strong advocate for strong central control. Clinton, GW Bush and then obviously Obama cemented the centralized authority. Obama gets blamed, and certainly he is a strong centralized power advocate, he certainly accelerated the train, but G H W Bush started the modern centralization of power. His son probably did more to slow it down than anyone but he kept it on the tracks.
Trump tore up the tracks but they will be rebuilt. Much of what Trump accomplished was to deregulate. But he is a strong “crony capitalist/corporatist” that supports big business handouts, tax breaks and corporate protectionism. I give Trump a huge amount of credit but he is far from the Saint many hoped he would be. That said, Biden is going to suck the life out of the economy even if the stock market continues to elevate. The Democrats plans will increase hardships with more shutdowns, thus killing small businesses. Commercial real estate in the liberal cities is collapsing and will lead to major economic damage. Residential real estate in the liberal city core has already collapsed. 110,000 restaurants have permanently closed, mostly in cities and states with liberals in charge. Tens of thousands of small stores have shuttered while governors allowed national chains to remain open.
