FreeSpoke Search Engine . . . new, built from ground up, minimal bias?

Search Engines are a dime a dozen.

We know that DuckDuckGo is nothing more than Bing's search engine with a layer that makes your search supposedly private, but it is still BING. And BING has its own biases so the searches on DuckDuckGo are guilty of the exact same biases because both are, in fact, the same search engine, but BING does not pretend privacy.

Google is pretty obviously the king of all search engines, followed perhaps by Yahoo! but both are known to have strong left wing bias and suppress headlines and sources and information from right wing outlets.

Now there is a brand new, built from the ground up to, theoretically offer less bias, actually no bias, but that is yet to be proved. It comes from the Rickett family, the billionaire owners of the Chicago Cubs, among other things. Todd Rickett, in an interview aired earlier this week, claimed that their search engine eliminates bias by presenting sources from both sides without suppression. In fact their front page (available after you join and log in) has a sub-head of "suppressed" stories.

Worth taking a look at FREESPOKE.com if you want to try something else.

Thanks Bob.
I must've been asleep at the wheel; I did not realize Duck Duck go and Bing were one and the same engine. :bonk: I've used duck duck go for ages.

YUP, DuckDuckGo is exactly BING with a simple privacy overlay on top. But it has the same exact bias because it is the same engine.

FWIW, I am really liking FREESPOKE as a search engine, although I cannot make it the 'default' search in Safari, the web browser that I use as my main browser. So I have a tab for FreeSpoke and click the tab to do searches. Not terribly convenient. However, that complaint should actually be levied against SAFARI rather than the search engine.

Freespoke, when you do a news search, lists articles and provides a bias notice. RIGHT wing sources clearly identified by a small red elephant and the word RIGHT. LEFT wing sources clearly identified by a small blue donkey and the word LEFT. MIDDLE leaning, or supposedly NEUTRAL sources are simply identified by the word MIDDLE.

I did a simple search for strikes against Iran this morning. Took a screen shot of some of the results just to illustrate how the bias notification appears on my screen:

It is now the default search engine on my laptop. Chrome has an extension for it already.

I have not found an extension for Safari (yet) but I suspect either I missed it or it is in process.

What are your thoughts on the results you get from FREESPOKE ???

So far so good. I like it. No downside that I've seen so far switching from duckduckgo.
