Snowcat Ridge, the first snow park in the state that opened last month was forced to close when Pasco County officials revoked its permits on Wednesday night, but was able to reopen on Friday.
“After a thorough inspection by Pasco County this afternoon, we’ve addressed the issues reported by Pasco County officials,” reads a post on the attraction’s Facebook page. “We’ve temporarily removed the use of our shipping containers in the Alpine Village and the rest of the park has been cleared to open.”
The park reopened at 3 p.m.
“The safety of our staff and guests are our top priority and with these modifications complete, we are looking forward to welcoming guests back to Snowcat Ridge,” reads the post.
In an earlier post on Facebook, the Dade City attraction stated that Pasco officials revoked its permit, and then followed up, working on the concerns brought up by the permit.
Inspection officials told media outlets on Thursday they had found electrical, fire, building and plumbing code violations that posed “a significant threat to public health and safety” and that “the park will remain closed until all life-safety violations are corrected.”
The attraction posted another response earlier Friday outlining its work to remedy the issue.
“After reading the report, we understand the list of concerns, with the majority of the points pertaining to the temporarily modified shipping containers in our Alpine Village,” reads the post. “Our team worked all day yesterday and through the night to come to a resolution on these issues with Pasco County. We believe we’ve handled everything on the report and have requested an inspection today with Pasco County in hopes of receiving approval to re-open the park.”
“The safety of our staff and guests are our top priority. We’ve received dozens of permit inspections from Pasco County, the state of Florida, and the health department in the last 6 months prior to opening,” reads another statement from the park. “Our staff conducts daily safety inspections and we have medics on-site every day we’re open.”
The original post that announced the closing said the company did not initially receive an explanation behind it.
“On the evening of Wednesday December 9th Pasco County officials arrived at Snowcat Ridge and revoked our existing permit without providing any documentation or written explanation of any violations,” reads the post. “Further, Pasco County has failed to recognize our State of Florida amusement ride approvals and will not allow us to open Snowy Slopes.”

The attractions’ main feature is a 60-foot-tall, 400-foot-long snow tubing hill with real snow.
It also has a snow play area called the Arctic Igloo and food and beverage at its Alpine Village.
