Does anyone have a drawer dishwasher ?

My dishwasher has quit.

I don't like having a big door down around my ankles that won't stay partially open and out of the way. Don't need to put 12 place settings in there and certainly don't need a "tall tub" which means bending over even further.

There are only 2 drawer dishwasher manufacturers and neither seems to have a great record for longevity or ease of repair. This is sad because this format costs more. I imagine the drawer slides are expensive like good ones are in a 'fridge.

Do you have one? Or had one ?

No, but I'm curious too.

When there are 2 of us in the house it seems like a great solution because we don't generate a lot of dirty dishes and my understanding is that you can was just 1 drawer so 1/2 load.

When we have Kobe with us or visitors the whole dishwasher would come in handy.

Yeah, that's why I don't use the dishwasher a lot. It's easier and less time-consuming to just suds up some hot water, wash them, dry them and put 'em back into the cupboard so they'll be ready for lunch.

The springs that assist the weight of the door on ours both snapped. (one at a time) and I looked up the replacement springs at $19 each plus shipping and so I just take a firm arm and let the door down gently when I do use the dishwasher. It's handy to clean the vent filters on the range hood and when either of us gets sick with the flu or something, it's good to use as an autoclave for the forks and spoons.

Speaking of forks and spoons ... do they go in the tray prongs/bowls up or down? You'd be surprised how many folks have been in knock-down-drag-out fights over the UP or DOWN question!!! Just wash 'em by hand and keep the peace is my motto. :)

To stray from the topic a little - my bigger peeve is with the top-freezer refrigerator! I end up either crawling or laying down on the kitchen floor to see what's on the back of those lower shelves! And I'm gettin' too old to get back up off'a the floor many more times. Sometimes I find things down/back there that are long past their USE BY date.
