I almost got bit again this morning!! Got it a year and a half ago, not fun!! I walked out the back door and stepped on a young (foot long) Copperhead. It struck my shoe luckily, I was able to kill it! So to all of our southern members.......eyes on the ground!!👀🪱

We have them in Ohio, but they are fairly rare here in the Northeast. I have seen one the entire time I've lived here, and it was dead.

I once killed a snake I thought was a copperhead that was fighting with my cat. I witnessed it strike him a couple of times. So I killed the snake and rushed him and the dead snake to an emergency veterinary clinic. Turns out it was a milk snake, they gave him a shot and said that'll be 300 bucks, lol.

We have them here, but it has been a long time since I have seen one. If he is still around we have a resident Black snake that maintains the population.

Family and friends in Arizona all have that same mentality. When you go outside, look down first. One friend who is on the far Northwestern part of town (in Arizona) seems to be in an area that attracts Gila Monsters. He showed us pictures of several who seemed to like his back porch.

I've killed a lot of rattlesnakes here. We find them in the barn, the garden, on the porch steps, under the deck, on the deck, under outbuildings, in the vehicles, in the back yard, side yard. I once fell in a hole with one. When the grandkids are here they carry a walky talky with them when they go for hikes so they can call when they see a rattler. They also carry a pointy stick with them everywhere they go. I bought the kids a .410 to carry with them when they're hiking around the area. They're old enough.

Found one Copperhead. Actually, my wife found it. In my Shop. In a box. Dead.

Which means one of my cats found it and dragged it into the box. When it was 40 American degrees outside.

Yea, I made sure it was dead - by crushing its skull with a hammer.

We have them at Hippie Ridge in the Ozarks. I once told the story here of emptying my 357 Blackhawk at point blank range and missing every time so I killed it with a shovel. Almost six feet of it.

It wasn't my nervousness, just wasn't wearing glasses.

We have four big neighbor's dogs running around and haven't seen many around the house.
