Chicago Mayor Panics, Chicago Bears may move OUT OF ILLINOIS

There are now very heavy rumors that the Chicago Bears organization may move to Northwest Indiana.

That would make a lot of sense. Less traffic, multiple paths in: 65, 90, 80/94. Put it right there in the middle of that triangle. Land is probably dirt cheap. The millionaires can fly into GYY with practically no air traffic.

Somewhere adjacent to, probably just east, of the South Shore Railcats baseball stadium seems like it would be ideal. Literally at an exit from Skyway tollroad and I-65.

It is rundown housing in that area, plenty of room for urban redevelopment by wiping out the dilapidated homes, and with the Railcats stadium next door the road infrastructure already exists. Could help revitalize the downtown area.

This illustrates the order of importance the mayor of Chicago has for Crime versus Football and sport revenues.
There are more empty shells on the sidewalks of Chicago than the beaches of Miami. And yet, he is worried about the sports teams leaving the city.

IF Gary Indiana gets the team, at least the fan base remains intact. And likely much happier about going to a game "downtown."

Driving to the current Bears venue really really sucks.
Gary makes sense.
Then, like Meigs Field, they can knock down the stadium and add more park. That's what they need, a more open killing field.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson made a last minute maneuver to reintroduce his controversial corporate head tax Friday. He wanted that revenue to replace the city debt collection proposal that he opposes.

That move got temporarily shelved, but it's clear the mayor is not ready to concede he's lost the budget battle.

The stage is now set for the full City Council to vote on the entire budget package during Saturday's meeting, but Mayor Johnson insists there's still time to work out some kind of compromise.

Gary makes sense, better access, cheaper land, and existing infrastructure, plus the potential to revitalize the area. While I’d prefer they stay in Chicago, it’s clear the current leadership isn’t doing enough to address the real problems.

While I’d prefer they stay in Chicago, it’s clear the current leadership isn’t doing enough to address the real problems.

I live 30-ish miles from Gary. The state of Indiana offered up 3 different sites.

• One with direct I-94 access, about 15 minutes east of the Indiana/Illinois state line.
• One with "Skyway" access that is almost literally adjacent to the state line just a couple miles from Chicago's border and sitting on Lake Michigan
• One in the Miller Beach area on Gary's east side, lake front land, with a proposed interstate exit at the doorstep to the proposed site, plus the site already has commuter railway access.

Basically the State of Indiana, much to my dismay, will abandon is fiscally conservative policies to 'give away' my tax dollars to fund the circus. So financially I oppose all this. But as someone who looks across the Illinois state line on a daily basis from the sunny, warm, pollution and nearly corruption free state of Indiana , I have to chuckle at what I am seeing.

This is, when you boil it all down to the basics, a classic case of Supreme Court Justice Brandies and his ruling about the individual states being the LABORATORIES OF DEMOCRACY. Each state doing its own thing, within a guiding framework of cooperation & competition with the other 49. This is also a perfect of example of why the Democrats have, historically (at least 100 years) pushed for more federal control over states through regulation. Despite the best efforts of the Democrats, BLUE states bleed population and wealth while accumulating tax burden and debt . . . simultaneously RED state tend to gain population and wealth while hiding down the tax burden and debt.
