Informational Technology Contingency Plans (or The Lack Thereof)
Wednesday night we were watching The Hail Mary Project on our streaming TV service provided by Charter Cable / Spectrum when the connection suddenly failed. I pulled the plugs and rebooted my modem and my Netgear router but it wasn’t my problem. It was all three services – no Phone – no Internet – and no Streaming TV. Everything went down at once and it wasn’t coming back on.That was two days ago! This is now Friday and Spectrum did finally get the telephone operating again. I figure that someone’s head is likely to roll for not having a remedial contingency plan in place. Can you imagine all the businesses and agencies that are scrambling to appease their customers and constituents right now? This is coming up on the end of the workday and the workweek and so it may well be next Monday morning for a lot of places with Charter services to begin again in earnest after last Wednesday’s fiasco.

Okay, I'm back! And it's now Saturday morning (13 JUN 26) and I'm wondering what the heck happened! (???) Apparently from what I've been able to find out, several states of the U.S. were all down - internet - phone - TV ... the whole shebang. I was thinking that the Iranians shot down the Charter / Spectrum satellite!
I'm curious ... who else here has been offline since last Wednesday - and what happened? Was it the Russians? Anybody miss me?
