Biden administration is trying to stop States from lowering taxes. Red States are the target. If they lower taxes he want to with hold federal funds from those States. Ever heard of such bull sh1t?

Hmm.. I've read a LITTLE bit about this since making my last post. It seems that this simply means that a state can't use the Covid State Recovery Payments to reduce taxes. This seems fair enough; it means the money must be spent on Covid recovery issues, not put into the general fund ?

Presumably this means that a state CAN reduce tax, but it must be able to demonstrate that it didn't use the Recovery Fund payments to do it ?

Just ask all those Californian's who have left the State, or are going to.
When you see the successful people of a State bail out for greener pastures, anyone with common sense should know there is some thing wrong.

The tax base California is loosing is getting their attention. I hear they are tracking down those who left and going after them for California taxes.
They claim the money made in California has taxes that must be paid in California.
New Yorker's are fleeing to Florida, and Californian's to Texas, Nevada, and Montana for the more adventurist.
And the locals were they move to don't like them much. They bring their failed politics with them.

A few years ago I entertained a couple of young German men on my farm. They had been in the States for a month or so...
We really had fun when I took them out on my shooting range.. We started with rimfire target rifles and worked out way up to shot guns and clay targets. But the real hit was when I brought out an AR 15 and we shot it. Those men deleted other video on their phones so they would have room to record them each firing a 20 round clip as fast as they could... This is what freedom looks like. I carry a side arm every day, because I can. Again this is what freedom looks like...
Freedom means your Government trusts you with such things. It also means they understand we are armed, and we have the right to use this to oust a tyrannical Government. Do you think Democrats trust us to have guns we could use against them? Do you now understand why our capitoal is fenced in with national guard troops surrounding it? For over 200 years of our liberty every Government here has. Do you think we can trust the Democrats? Would you trust a Government that does not trust you?
I can honestly say from what I know about the UK apparently your Government does not trust you at all. But you trust them. This my friend is a fundamental difference between our nations.... I hope you understand and take that red pill....

The way they are portraying it in some of our media is that it prevents the individual states from choosing their own tax paths. More than simply lowering taxes by using "recovery payments" it seems to extend beyond that.

The problem is that if a state has a surplus (like mine) and then the state also gets some of its tax dollars returned to it in the form of a grant via the "recovery payments" the state cannot lower any of its taxes. It prevents states with stronger fiscal balance sheets from helping the actual taxpayers who actually contributed to that state's budget surplus.

My friend in Wales got in trouble for putting in a 3' (1 meter) diameter plastic lily pond in her back garden without the approval of her council.

My friends in Hereford tell me horror stories about how the town clamps down on all sorts of things.

I would guess that you have what you believe to be some freedoms but until you see real freedom you don't realize what you are missing. Sort of like healthcare. My English friends love their NHS free services but some of them then pay for private insurance to jump the long queue waiting lists. Others grumble about how many simple things are not treated in a timely manner simply because it can take months to get into see a specialist. Here in the US we pay for our insurance if we can afford it, if we can't we have ObummerCare, which nobody likes, but it's costs are subsidies for lower income folks. But we get into specialists in 6 to 48 hours.

Well, I've lived here - in different parts of the country - for 55 years, and I've NEVER heard of councils quibbling over garden ornaments. As for the NHS; I've only occasionally had to use it, and I had no problems ?
