Boat Trailer Fun

Lover of fun.

So bought a used boat trailer and boat last year. I figured it’s from someone I know and he said it was pretty much good to go. Going through the boat it’s got some quirks. Batteries were ancient. Depth finder doesn’t work. Some other things just need attention.
So, of course, the trailer was the same. Getting into it I decided to change out the non-working lights( they work fine lol), replaced the non-working surge brake hitch, and pulled all 4 wheels since the tires are dry rotted to a point I don’t consider them safe for hauling. Since I got the wheels off I figured I’d better get into the bearings since up here I’ve sold many replacements for neglected hubs.
So, lights, wires not connected. Missing some as well. Bearings, well, not good… Good thing everything is “ good to go”.

My brother bought a used 23 ft boat a month ago. Water in transom the seller said probably from all the rain we'd been having. LOL Nope. Brother found out both boots were bad and a few other things. Cost him $2500 to make the thing ready for the water, that's after paying 20k for the boat. BOAT = Break Out Another Thousand ....to often this is true.

The boat and trailer I gave to a friend was in better shape! :(

Considered that but man are the prices out of the park for something used 5 months a year up here.
That's a valid point. I've had a couple news boats and a couple of used boats over the years. At my age I think that we can afford a new one. Although it might have to wait until spring to buy it. I need to find a covered storage space in town first. I wouldn't pull it up our road.
