:pat: Aw Dutch, you know it's a vast right-wing conspiracy and Rush Limbaugh and the rest of the conservative radio network is being funded by those evil corporations.

I listened to some of the Air America broadcasts, just to try to attain some semblence of balance. Al Frankin was the guy who I most often had the misfortune of hearing. I could only take him in reasonably small doses. I am not a listener of the right wing broadcasts either, except on rare occasions.

What I found very interesting was the tone of the Frankin show, versus the tone of Bill Bennett. Bennett is full of hope an optimism, he speaks about problems and how to try to solve them, he speaks in an even tone with reason in his voice. Frankin is a very negative broadcaster with little optimism in his ideas, the problems he brings up are in the form of the lies being told by all the Republicans and the solutions he offers seem to revolve around electing Democrats. He is almost shrill in his attitude and I found it very unpleasant to listen to him because of the general tone of the discussions, the lack of positive ideas and solutions to problems, and even the lack of understanding of what some of the core problems really are. I'm not saying that the right wing talk guys get it right all the time, I suspect they miss things too. But it seems like the left wing guys missed the point more often than not, never offered a practical solution but complained loud and often.

Personally when I listen to radio I listen for 1 of 2 reasons. NEWS or ENTERTAINMENT. Air America did not provide either. And guys like Rush, or Liddy or Bennett provide some information and some entertainment. It comes as no surprise to me that Air America is bankrupt. It struck me that their programming was bankrupt of entertainment and information long ago.

It was doomed from the start. To be successful it had to actually be entertaining - which it clearly wasn't.

I tried listening to Air America once also..and it is depressing to listen to anyone constantly bash and critisize the Republicans, but offer nothing about what positive directions they would take..what plan would they have, what will they do, besides critisize and bitch?

I don't know how the next elections will come out, but if the silent majority of Christian Americans come out like the last election, the Democratic Party is going to have to figure out that America is not buying the Michael Moore and Gore BS, and return to conservative values...leave the liberal left out.

If anyone wonders, Air America originally refered to the "covert" CIA funded air operations.

Well it is now official, despite their denials . . . what I don't understand is why, being good liberals, they simply don't turn to the government for funding?

Air America Radio files for Chapter 11

By SETH SUTEL, AP Business Writer2 hours, 16 minutes ago

Air America Radio, a liberal talk and news radio network that features the comedian Al Franken, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, a network official told The AP.

The network had denied rumors just a month ago that it would file for bankruptcy. On Friday, Air America spokeswoman Jaime Horn told The Associated Press that the filing became necessary only recently after negotiations with a creditor from the company's early days broke down.

The network will stay on the air while it resolves issues with its creditors, Horn said. In addition to Franken, the network also features shows from liberal talk show host Randi Rhodes and Jerry Springer.

Horn declined to name the creditor with which talks had reached a logjam. The company will operate in the interim with funding from its current investor group.

Air America also said Friday it had named Scott Elberg as its new CEO. Elberg, a former general manager of the radio station WLIB in New York, has been with the network since May of last year.

The filing marked the latest turbulence at the liberal talk radio network, which went on the air two years ago. This April, Danny Goldberg stepped down as CEO and was replaced by an interim chief executive from a management consulting firm.

"Nobody likes filing for bankruptcy," Elberg said in a statement. "However, this move will enable us to concentrate on informing and entertaining our audience during the coming months."

Gone Flyin'
:blahblah: Whatever. Die in peace. There is no audience and never will be on ("non-public") talk radio. There is enough liberalism on the media already. Just look at TV. All of it (Yes, even FOX. Ever see Shepard Smith?) is not only leaning left they have embrased left and ignore center and right.

We are a country under seige of socialism.

Now the people will elect an ultra left congress and we can look forward to a "we can too" impeachment of the president, skyrocketing taxes, cut and run from terrorists (emboldening them further), and all the rest.

These happenings will only open the door to my previous predictions of what our future will be. Live free while you can, it will all be gone in 10 years.

Can't argue with your observations and most of your predictions.

Hopefully this is just due to a large percentage of our citizens being spoiled, ignorant, lazy, and apathetic.

The same citizens may wake up, change their ways, and behave like their hard working, brave, God fearing, common sense ancestors before all is lost.

If they don't, they are millions of foreigners who are suffering under the yoke of socialism. Most would love to swap places. Maybe immigrants are America's future.
