Acid rinse

Just a question for the fellas restoring machinery. Has anyone ever used Milkstone Remover and Acid Rinse on rusted frame parts prior to painting? I was told to remove rust then paint using the acid rinse. Once dried it could be painted over with a rust type paint. The product was available at Fleet and Farm Supply. I wanted a little "field knowledge" before applying and having everything evaporating lol. Thanks for the answers.

If you use acid wash immediately after using it spray the object with a strong baking soda solution. Otherwise I think you'll have immediate rust formation on iron.
