1953 Tucker Sno Cat 443 Mt Washington WMTW Channel 8 Restoration

Had it popped off and ran a bit? Inquiring minds noticed the angle conveniently does show the distributor or head......

make sure its in neutral.......
8-)

And you pulled a jinn and destroyed/edited the evidence....

Im on to you mafia types...

Temporary gauges coming together for oil and temp.

Working on a better heater core lower hose tie in fitting.

New 3 ohm coil to match the petronix ignition upgrade which eliminates the ballast.

What are you looking for for a fitting? Looks like a standard 3/4" pipe tap on that tee. A 3/4" barb fitting should get you straight to heater hose. - Steve

Marty primed up quick with great blood pressure!

Make sure when changing and oil pump to fill it with oil before install to prime and get the air out. Then fill the motor and filter housing.

Some turns on the stater and looking great!🇺🇸

Had to time the oil pump and distributor. Upgraded to electronic ignition and cleaned the distributor. Wired up but need to add a diode to the alternator exciter wire to prevent run on with the conversion.

I dont recognize the flooring, but when you say time the oil pump. Do you mean align the pump to shaft? Im starting up a 251 that came to me with out a distributor and the pump and cam are mechanically connected.

Im building my distributor and i will need to time my distributor shaft because i cut it off to switch some bits around and extend it .250 or so.

I am hoping your aligning as opposed to timing. (Tomatoe, tomahtoe) but i dont trust the averaged information A/I on the google searches these days.

The gear drivien oil pump is messing with me a bit. The pump to cam relationship is fixed unless we take it apart. Did you pull your pump and cam?

Check our SV 2024 for the flooring. Already tested in the field for miles of smiles:)

As for timing the oil pump there is a process. The distributor is driven off the oil pump which is driven off the cam.

Manual says to alight the oil pump key with the bolt holes which is horizontal. You can see the key alignment from the distributor bore when it’s out. It should be horizontal — when #1 cylinder is at TDC on compression stroke.

Distributor instructions state to set the motor to TDC on #1 when installing the distributor so the rotor points down to the condenser and the #1 plug wire.

I am sure that you could install the pump otherwise and get to fire and adjust timing
to counter but better to stick to baseline for the next person.

This Boom Mat coatings works quick and easy to address the old trunk paint restoration preservation.

NHOU protective coating with rodent deterrent is being applied to the body panel connections as additional protection for the future.

Hope AI and the youths tell us if this added effort actually helped?

Tucker Tollerance involved stretching and bending when it comes to body work.

Paint added a little to the frame which is why I didn’t coat the panel to frame connections with Boom Matt. Here tucker tolerance works against the theory.

Came out good so far….

Service preservation upgrade to electric fuel pump per order of the East Coast Preserve! Not looking to have issues with diagrams and gaskets past the carb.

Working out the plumbing but got a plan I think.

You are probably already past this point, but why not have both? Leave the mechanical pump for preservation reasons and add the electric backup (hidden under floor) for a security blanket. That's how mine is run and also allows easy priming of the mechanical after sitting for a while.

When I was younger my grandfather had a bunch of machinery and I remember him always mumbling maintenance maintenance maintenance as I wanted to use something.

Well i’m not that old but the kids and I have too many spark plugs which are multiplying. Less is more and you already see my spots:)

Tank can be installed with the body on so we defer that for now.

3 speed transmission filled with 3 pints fresh 80/90 gear lube.

Transfer case as well to check plug. Handy vent fill on Marty. No drill hole in the cap so loosely threaded cap is the OE vent plus some effect from the transfer case mount bolts.

Let the leaks begin or not…
