    Hydrostatic conversion?? Thiokol 602

OK, more feedback. I don't know whether the OC-15 will put up with triple the power or not. The predecessor machine, the Trackmaster final drive was two Dana 60's, one for each track. And that was the condemning failure point that lead to the OC-15. So is a rock crawler comparison valid? The...

    Hydrostatic conversion?? Thiokol 602

Sure. And after all the time and money spent on this conversion, the final result is a machine that's constantly breaking really hard to find parts and when the time comes that repairing it becomes a burden it can sit broken down out in the yard for years! Better to think Weatherby with this...

    Hydrostatic conversion?? Thiokol 602

OK. I'll be the purist here for the moment. While you're busy fabricating this 300HP+ LS modification into a machine designed for about 115 ponies what do you think the outcome is going to be? Final drive wise I mean. Or sprockets. Or front axle. Or rear axles. Is this build some kind of social...

    Questions Questions....

Yes, either a jam nut or a pin/bolt is usually present. To get a jam nut on is going to require untracking the machine which you might want to do anyway since your tracks are on backwards. Or figure out a pin or something. You have a torsion bar front axle which is nice and J-style grousers are...

Well that took 7 hours and 28 minutes.

    Hydrostatic conversion?? Thiokol 602

I think you'd be way better off buying your diesel/ hydrostatic snowcat and mounting the 601 cab to it than the other way around if that's what you want.

    Antique snowcat

I like it! Am I the only one sitting here scrolling up & down?

    Colorado 2024

Yea, it climbs pretty good even missing parts out of the carburetor. But no, last year it choked after breaking trail in fresh foot of snow and lost to a (gasp!) Tucker.

    Seats

These came from Northern Tool. I have used seats from Four Wheel parts that were CJ-5 low back replacement that work very well. It is important to get the seat angle correct when fabricating the mounts. Re-used high back car seats are cheap and junkie looking to me.

    "No snow too deep"

Fun to watch but somehow I would find it far more interesting if I knew where this was.

    Belly pans...or not

Yes you want the belly pan covers and you answered your own question. 1404's float on there belly.

    1984 DMC 1450 tires

Yea, we had a situation some years ago with a 1404 where the owner was hung up in deep snow on a stump, had a flat tire, and the bottom track tire guides were all to the inside of the wheels except for the front idler and the drive sprocket. It was quite the twisted mess and a long way out in...

    WTB- Tucker Sno Cat

I'm not seeing the problem here with finding a used Tucker. Seems like there are lot's of Tuckers listed for sale at any given moment. And when someone expresses interest they come out of the woodwork. The trick is recognizing which ones won't eat you alive fixing/restoring them. Tread...

    SV200 differential service

Reason you being told to use TO-4 or motor oil is because the ep gear oils will degrade the bronze bushings in your steering differential.

    1984 DMC 1450 tires

Pros; Not to worry about flats, no need to keep an eye on tire pressure May help with not walking out of the track if you're horsing around Cons: Adds a surprising amount of weight Transfers shock to other components I think a lot of 1450's were used primarily as trail groomers which is why...

    LH318 camshaft

Hey just a quick heads up todays engine oils no longer contain the zinc & phosphorus that flat tappet cams need to survive. Older engines already well broken in seem to do ok at least for awhile but stories abound out there concerning rounded cam lobes in engines that don't have rollers.

    LMC 1200 C4 Issue

Ever get this figured out? Also, what is the advantage of using only one of the OC-4 gear selections? Seems that the C-4 automatic would provide reduction power input beyond what the OC-4 transmission 3rd gear was designed to take. Multiplying power input by the 2.46:1 C-4 first gear ratio would...

    LMC 1200 C4 Issue

OK, from your post I thought the cover was just stuck on. I have had that happen when the cover was glued on with silicon/no gasket. A guy who knows much more than me says the shifter shaft needs to be pulled up out of the case see if that helps. Also it's easy to get the gears on the wrong way.

    LMC 1200 C4 Issue

If this is an OC-4 in a Thiokol A-style Spryte I would remove the shifting linkage and shift by hand to see if the problem continues. If it does and the problem still exists the best approach is pull the steering differential unit and have Spryte Improvement go through it. This is an expensive...
